Cannot speak with Lenton (Spoiler)

While in the East Road. I am supposed to speak with Lenton and recive a quest of bringing back the head of a Troll Chieftain. When I try to speak with him it says "Object is busy and cannot talk to you right now". He keeps beating up the training dummy. Is this a bug or have I missed something?

Thankfull for any help.

I think that is a bug as I have had it happen to me. I'm not quite sure what I did to remedy the situation, I may have gone away and come back later. Other than that I don't really know what else to do about it.

Thats no bug. When you stand a while beside him and watch him beating up the dummy he will eventually stop and have a short break . You can talk to him then ... somtimes just needs a while

Bumping this one because I fell into this bug myself while replaying NwN again (never had it before)

This is a workaround solution for this bug:

Using your console:

type DebugMode 1
type dm_setfactiondefender (The mouse cusor will enter target mode, press Lenton)
type DebugMode 0

This will cause him to stop attacking the dummy and then you can chat with him and complete the quest.

with the original NWN alone, yes, i recalls he stops after u wait awhile, but with the SOU, i've tried resting there and all that returning a dozen times to no avail. he seems to have developed such enimty with the dummy, that that only way i can stop him is either pry his dead body away, or spew insults that the dummy actually has more INT than he is....

unless this has been fixed in later patches, i believe that the only way roundis to follow xandax's post or forgo the quest. to me, it is only not getting the xp that hurt.

It has not been fixed, I'm running NwN+SoU+HotU with the 1.61 patch, and experienced this bug last time through original NwN (a few days ago).

dummy! and i do not refer to the immobile item at which the object of the word (dummy) is attempting to attack....

I been having that problem to so I had my Bard cast Charm person on and he talked to me

unfortunately not everyone has "charm". there is a bug. i remember that lenton would stop and talk to you if you wait awhile in the original NWN, before any patches were instaled. its patches that caused the bug, and it is not fixed yet.

What should I do with that text, do I need to activate a conslole or what. I'm busy downloading 1.62 now, so maby that'll help, cheers every one.

It doesn't help. I just had the same bug a couple of days ago. I just left the trolls head in one of the chests nearby and went on to other things.

All you need to do is press the console button (next to 1) and then enter that as described, it works.

The console button is located different due to national keyboard settings.

For me it is the button left of backspace (being a scandinavian user I think), which is the `key (note - not the ´).

For others it is the ~ key.
