Can someone help me out with this.
I've been playing D&D for 20 years. most of that as a DM but I've had many PC's with long and lustrious careers. Therein lies the problem. Where are the mods for high level characters? I know that epic levels aren't up yet, but I've played NWN to death and the couple of characters I've established have run out of challenges. A Pimps quest was the only decent mod I've run across for HLPC's.
Starting over and over with new characters is sickening. In D&D when that happens it's because your PC died and you have to go through the tedious and embarassing aspect of rerolling a new character whose favored enemy is the NPC or PC that did your last character in. I like the PC's I've raised. I've come to know them and their strengths, weaknesses ect. Must I keep shelving them like stepchildren? come on mod makers. I know you hear me. Being familiar with a PC and sharing in his/her gains and losses is most of the fun. The treasures you have earned are just that. "Treasures". To start a mod and have someone just strip them from your PC so you "fit" their adventure is rediculous. How would the DM like it if someone stripped him/her of their tools of the trade?
Yes I have powerful items.
Yes I have a fortune in gold.
so what? The PC earned every piece. It's bad enough we're limited to 20 levels (like the PC lost the ability to learn after 20) But must we keep a PC orphanage going because talented mod makers feel they must start every adventure from 1st level?
Beef the damn monsters up. give them special abilities and powers. use them intelligently. Forget about the little rinky dink treasures like gems and a few pieces of gold. I'd rather see one decent artifact gained throughout the whole quest than a bunch of stuff you drop because it's not even worth reselling.
Give us challenges that test our skills as players and our characters limits and abilities. Have epic ideas for epic characters. I ran an adventure where high level characters fought IUZ the Evil. IUZ had 7 NPC's that protected him. Each one of them could stand alone as a boss. That was much of what made the boss powerfull. Not just a bunch of stupid pregenerated flunkies. And get this. "THEY WORKED TOGETHER" Whodathunkit? Many of the mods I've played for NWN have bosses with an open door policy. Slaughter a bunch of weaklings, walk in, kill the boss and walk out. WTF?
With 20 years EXP in RPG's I have become so dissapointed in the current status of NWN modules. I'm nearly ready to delete NWN from my hard drive and just wait till you people get it together. I don't want another PC on another save the world quest. I want my favorite PC who've I've spent a multitude of hours developing to go on an adventure that continues to test his limits.
Forgive the long winded rant, but I believe it is necessary for you developers to get a clue.
So saying. get to work people. start creating something worth playing and postdadamnthang.
"please."
