After the Blades are established in game why don't we just have seperate businesses for each of the wings, so alinements and such would not conflict. You could give these jobs to the officers to give them something to do, then all pay a set "tax" rate to the guild or something.

Sometimes holy orders (especially those without an army of their own) must defend their lands or their faith. Most leaders of holy orders would prefer a "religious" man -- a paladin -- at the head of the army. There's nothing to prevent the Academy from maintaining a holy cadre of clerics and paladin. A paladin might not be a mercenary for cash, but could accept donations of money, goods, or land to his guild.

In first edition rules, Paladin took vows of poverty, much like a priest. After buying what he needed, he kept enough money to live on and gave the rest away. He could easily give it to his guild if he thought its motives were worthy.

Another possibility is that your character found religion after the destruction of the academy. Maybe he took refuge in a temple. Now he has to balance his duty to his god with his duty to his brothers. Actually, I like this one because it adds depth to the character.

Saigo and Word i am ok with both ideas.
I personally like the option of becoming a paladin later on.
Plus i have to change my history anyway.

I really like those ideas. How about the teachers name though.

I like Saigos possible "background" for the guild

Saigo, maybe you could try to work/write something out (a little more detailed maybe)(don't sweat with names).
And then we can run it past some of the DM's at Argyle, see what they say and, so we can get local names and stuff in it

Maybe get it added into the lore/history section of Argyle.

Something about a resurgence of an ancient guild/academy.

I've been thinking. What if the trainer was rescued by a banshee at some time. That could be why he named the academy after the banshee. Just a suggestion.

OK, guys. I'm glad you like it. I'll flesh it out, adding detail where possible, and run it by you when I'm done. It may take a few days due to a heavy workload, though.

Xandax, does Argyle have geography, politics, history, etc. worked out so that I can blend it with their campaign setting?

Well they have some geography and a timeline and some other stuff at their website.
Also if you need more info - get in touch with some of their DM's, or mail some to me and I'll ask them

Xandax, I found the history and all. I'll try to find a way to make our history work with theirs and then fine tune the details with the DMs. Do you already have a relationship with them? Do they know anything at all about our plans? If this is going to be their introduction to the Blades, and they already know you, you may be the best person to make the initial presentation.

Rhino for one does know of us - and I'd expect that he has talked about us with the others.
