animal summoning

I am level 6/4 ranger/rogue and cant seem to access the ability to summon companion. I am not wearing armour that stops my ranger capabilities.

By animal summoning are you talking about your animal companion, or spell summoning a dire badger/boar/wolf?

I don't think you get an animal companion as a Ranger until Lv. 6, so you may not have that one yet. As for the other summon animals, you have to choose them in your spell book, assign the summon spell to a spell slot, rest to charge it, make sure it is assigned to one of your quick slots, click on the slot then on the ground and it should summon the animal.

When you get an animal companion, it shows up in your skills, and just charges anytime you rest.

If you read his post, he says he is a 6/4 ranger/rogue

Aye, skimmed it too fast and just caught the 4. So I take it that means Lv. 6 Ranger, Lv. 4 Rogue. Still not sure if he is talking about summon animals or the animal companion...

What chapter are you in? - I've not tried it myself, but I would imagine that you can only summon companoins in wilderness areas - thus in chapter one you wouldn't be able to do it.

I'm not sure though

When you leveled up did you choose an animal companion along with assigning your skill points, etc? I haven't done a multi-class character, so am not sure if that effects anything. My character is strictly a ranger. At Lv. 6 I was given the choice of several animal companions. After choosing one, when you right click on your character, and go to the skills part of your radial menu, where you also find things like taunt, pick lock, etc, there should now be a new icon. Mine is a cat head, not sure if this changes with the animal, as I have a panther. Anyhow, this is either bold with a 1 by it, meaning it is charged, or it is fogged with a 0 meaning you need to rest to charge it.

I've never had any trouble casting it. You should be able to cast it anywhere, not just in forests, etc. I can cast it in temples, dungeons, wherever. I don't know of any other restrictions that would cause you to be unable to cast it.
