a couple of problems (?spoilers?)

OK, I got through the temple of being poisoned by using advice given. My character got really sick and I used a couple of medical packs as I got poisoned as well as being poisoned! I also had to waste some time selling stuff as I hadn't bothered getting rid of some heavy gear before going into the temple. Naturally, as soon as I was poisoned, I became encumbered. So I do the good fight, use a few spells and actually manage to defeat the last three trolls by using Tenser's transformation. I got the potion, got healed and rested. However, suddenly my character was encumbered again. She can now only carry 60 lbs, and when I look at her stats, her constitution, strength and (obviously) her speed are now diminshed. But I don't know why. It doesn't say my character classes are affected at all so it's not that I've had a level drained or anything. I presume it's a bug, but it's very annoying. I am forced to use The Belt of Fire Giant's strength, which is kind of useful, but it means I can't wear anything else that might give me more armour class or defence against spells.

Also, is there a limit to the amount of stuff you can put on a sword? I got Enserric and gave him (in separate gos) Regeneration, Keen and he already has Acid(?) bonus too (plus all those things I get from being evil). However, the Master Smith took 150,000 gold pieces off me to make the weapon Haste me permentantly and I got nothing. De nada. I had to pay the same amount to Haste my other weapon. If I ask him to put another bonus item on my rapier he says he can't and won't take my gold.

I've a good mind to kill him and get my gold back. I'm already becomming too good :-)

You sure you weren't diseased or otherwise drained besides the cures in the temple?
I'd suspect the cure only heals the curse.
Try getting some restoration cast on you, or healed by the Seer in the temple or something.
Otherwise - I haven't really any ideas.

And yes - there is a limit to the amount of effects you can place on any given weapon using the blacksmiths in HotU. I don't know the excat number though.
However, he shouldn't take your money and not give you an enchantment. If he can't place more enchantments on the weapon, he dosen't take the money, but says so.
So I find the matter of the haste rather strange. You sure you don't already have a haste effect or something, so it just dosen't seem like you are hasted? Like boots of speed or amour of speed or somthing similar?
Try giving it to your henchmen and see if he gets the haste effect?

Yes, I was thinking I'd pop back to the main start of the quest and seeing if old Whatshername can cure me. Otherwise I'll just have to keep battling on and going levels.

The Haste thing, well, I've tried examining the sword. When I examine my Rapier of the High Road, it says it has the Haste effect on it (this was added after I tried upgrading Enserric). The thing I'm thinking is that the darn sword has cheated me out the money, as in it fools the Craftsman into thinking that the effect has been added, when it hasn't. I kind of knew all along that this sword probably was not a good idea to get attached to, even though I am an evil character!

Thanks for that. Have to get back to battling, had to start the darn adventure AGAIN, as I couldn't kill Vix'thritha (?spelling?). I buffed myself up, tried more armour, tried giving potions of clarity to my people etc. Got him down to "Badly Wounded" (even on easy level) then he breathes at me and I lose on my Will roll. I can't buy any items to help me as I only have the genie bottle and although I have tried leaving, my computer then goes all peculiar (it plays that section which I presume you're supposed to watch after you've killed Vixy) then we walk through a section and the view goes as though the chase camera has been activated. However, nothing happens, and I can't get out of it by pressing the "Escape" key. Oh well, should be pretty darn powerful by the time I reach him next time....
