WoW or Guild Wars?

This is sort of a direct question, but for those of you that have played World of Warcraft and Guild Wars, which is better? I like how Guild wars is free but does that bring down the content a lot?

Guild Wars looks really good.. but I love WoW. The style of the graphics, the classes and races.. I only have experience with WoW, though.

Anyway.. I have heard Guild Wars is more action and less skills (quests, skills to make stuff, fishing).. but I´m not sure about that.

guildwars is more diablo 2 based
the only reason to really play the rpg part (starting from lvl 1) is to collect all the skills

cause you can instantly create a lvl 20 char (max lvl) that can only do pvp fights
you can only choose from skills you have unlocked though
guildwars looks great but it's not really a mmorpg the only mmorpg part is in the cities cause that's the only place you meet other people (who aren't in your party)

also crafting = just get the materials and bring the materials + money to crafter npc

I have only played Guild Wars, but I think WoW will be a better game to play, BUT you should only do that if you have/and want to spend the money. I am planning to buy Guild Wars since that is a lot cheaper and was a nice game when I tested it, I do think I will mis a bit of role playing in it, but I also like action games like FPSs so I should enjoy myself anyway with GW.

Both games have gotten some wonderful reviews. WoW appears to be a more traditional MMORPG. I haven't played WoW since I refuse to pay monthly charges, so I can't really give an opinion on it. I have been playing GW a fair amount lately and I have really enjoyed it. GW kind of breaks the mold of your standard MMO game. The developers attempted to reduce the grind that one experiences with your standard MMO game. I would not really recommend it then if you like to slowly build your character and relish the idea of progressing your character. GW also has made possibly the best RPG for PvP. One thing about online RPG games in the past is that they are so unbalanced. There are generally 1 or 2 builds that excel at that style of play and people as a result make their cookie cutter characters reflecting these builds. In GW there is no 1 on 1 dueling, it is all team based. And I have yet to see a specific class or build that can dominate everyone else. As a result, well balanced teams generally will do better in both PvP and PvE. Just in case someone does not know; PvP is player versus player and PvE is player versus enviroment.

My suggestion would be to do some research on both games and see what people have to say about them. Oh, and don't play GW if you like to be a ganker/PK or a general nuisance to others, because it is impossible for the most part. As a matter of fact, I ask that any immature players stay away from GW for my own personal happiness and to keep that community as grief free as possible.

I disagree with Elven that GW role playing is just to collect skills. I have had a wonderful time exploring the world in general and working in teams to do quests. I think both the PvP and PvE aspects of GW are great.

Funny, My settings only show this thread. (Only threads from the past week.) Also, If you felt you were just repating yourself, why post at all?

Back to topic: I never played Guild Wars, but fell in love with WoW right at the beginning of the ten day trial -fantastic game, with a lot of adventure, you are never bored! The world is huuuuge and fantastic, I often come to places when I simply have to halt to adore the beauty of the land... (No I'm not talking about Desolace ) At those times it really feels like I'm an adventurer, exploring the world... (I remember getting to the Tower of Ilagar by night, I was so struck by the beauty of it I simply stood there and didn't realize the mobs around me... It's truly gorgeous when the Moon is up).

The game is full of little things that add a lot to it - for example, when you become rich enough to ride a gryphon or when you get high lvl enough to start saving for your own mount... You always have a goal to reach, that's what I like in it.

The quests are also very entertaining (apart from some errand boy tasks but you can always abandon any quest, you are sure to have enough anyway). And there's one thing I'm sure is missing from GW - professions. If you find the prof that fits you the best it can be great fun and earns you money as well.

So, it definitely worth the monthly fee for me

I don't know why people think games you pay a monthly fee for aren't worth it. People often spend 50$ on a game that takes less than a month to beat, but on a game like wow you only pay 15$ and you get an entire a month of game out of it. So it actually seems cost effective to play an online game to me.

Ive played both, and I have to admit that I liked WoW better, but after a while, the game lost its intrigue, and I found guild wars a little more interesting for its cost. (Yes, its only 15 bucks, but its not like WoW is over the top better compared to it...)
