Which MMORPG???

Im about to buy a MMORPG game for the first time and am really excited. Could anybody tell me which one to choose and why. It would be a great help if you did. The main question thats bothering me actually is: Whats better and more interesting World of Warcraft or Starwars Galaxies. I know thats wow is just starting and that it beat all the records but then again in Starwars Galaxies you can live a whole second life (thats what I heard). Im reallllyyy puzzeled as to what to choose. Help!

Well World of Warcraft is rather good apart from the bugs that appear every ten seconds in the game, but Galaxies is very good... you go entirely crazy about it. It is so good, but there are less and less people so it is probably not worth it... so try Everquest 2

Well - from playing World of Warcraft, I'd say it is by far the easiest to get into for a newcommer to the genre that I've ever tried.
It is easy, fast paced and penalties for dying are very small. This means it is good for newcommers and casual players (or both

).

I've not tried Everquest II myself, because it has never appealed to me for some reason.
However - I have played Dark Age of Camelot extensively and would not advice that game for a new commer to the genre, and almost not to a MMOG veteran either, because it is such a timesink.
EVE-Online is another I've played for a while and is good if you are more into space exploration type games. However it is hard (well was when I played it) and full PvP which means you can die very often.

But there are many others on the market.
Star Wars Galaxies and Saga of Ryzom I've only tried back when they were in beta, but didn't find them fun enough for me to keep playing, so I can't advice on that.
City of Heros, Lineage 2, Ascherons Call 2 (spelling?), Guild Wars, Anarchy Online are also all MMOGs... so there are plenty to pick from

I concur with Xandax. I would recommend wow. I had never played any MMOG before that (except 20 min of galaxies, which was a waste of those 20 mins) and after something like an hour I was completly enthralled, it is incredibly userfriendly (as opposed to a certain star wars MMORPG I know

) and it takes omly minutes to get into it.

I only borrowed my brother's beta account for a few days, but it got me totally hoocked. I am going to buy it when the midnight sales start tomorrow!

EDIT: I've heard that Xenimus is good, although I have not played it myself, it is free. Just google it and you should find it.

I really recommend Anarchy Online, its free till 2006. Thats a whole year for free, its a great game I'm playing it right now. You can download it on fileplanet or visit the official site. I am really anoid with the fact that the Russian release date for wow is always after the european. I just dont get it isn't Russia part of Europe??? Im disapointed in Blizzard...

No, Russia isn't part of Europe. And neither is Turkey or Israel.
