What?? No Guild Wars?!?!

Dear Moderator/Admin,

You should add a special forum for the Arenanet game Guild Wars!! It is IMO the BEST MMORPG to date!!

I would be willing to bet that there are a lot of people on the forums that feel the same way!! I have posted this poll so we can see if I am correct, or if I should just stop talking.

I realize that I only recently joined GameBanshee.com, but I would gladly be moderator for a Guild Wars forum.

Thank you

The site owner put the nix on Guild Wars long ago. As far as I know, he hasn't changed his opinions, but you're welcome to ask him, again. I would suggest doing so by creating a thread under GameBanshee Discussion.

I would also suggest getting the poll removed. Buck owns and runs the board. He's not going to change his opinion based on popular fiat, and he may not look kindly upon any attempt to do so.

Actually, there has already been a thread on this in GB Discussion, where the idea was turned down. I actually was behind it, as my sources (ie evil friends) said that the game was somewhat linear for an MMORPG. Considering that I am no major MMORPG player myself, I asked him why as well.

From what I remember, Gamebanshee is well known for it's walkthrough. The other games here have walkthoughs that are comprehensive... even WoW has one, I think. The point is that guildwars is a game where making a walkthough would be a near impossibility. Also, I don't think it has enough of a following, if I remember correctly.

Anyways, Buck rules us all with an iron fist. It is rumoured that there is a pit where he tortures those who went against his will.

There have been a couple of these threads over the year, but so far - popular demand seems to back me up.
There is almost no discussion about GuildWars going on at this site, which in my view doesn't warrent the creation of a GuildWars forum.

Read some of the earlier threads, by using the search function, for more information.

@Fable: Well the last thing I'm trying to do is get the admin pissed at me, even though it's kinda silly that he would care... But to stay away from getting yelled at, I'll take your advice and remove the poll. So how would I do that?? Thanks!

@Hill-Shatar: Guild Wars is not known as much for the storyline, as it is for the awesome PvP and Guild Battles. If you do follow the storyline there are endless quests that can differ depending on char class. So I can understand why it would be hard to write a 'walkthrough' for it. However, the following for Guild Wars is HUGE!! Maybe they just stay away from forums? As for Buck's pit... hopefully I won't learn much more about it!!

@Xandax: It surprises me that nobody on this site seems to be into Guild Wars. It's sad, but if there is no discussion then I agree it would be pointless to add a Guild Wars forum that no one would use.

You ask the local moderator, being Xandax. Anyways, Buck cares, as this is his forum.

Would you volunteer to right that size of walkthrough? The maps are always changing, so are the groups, and the entire layout of the game would make that one massive walkthough, and in the end, thanks to the openendness, the only thing you can really do is say where things are, as the game typically revolves around multiple players.

Anyways, many communities already exist for this game, yet they are ill used. Why not talk to people in game?

This is a mainly RPG site, with some RTS/RPG hybrids and one or two MMORPGs tossed in. However, WoW had a following from the Warcraft series, which is covered here, and that site has a huge following, and has been around for a while, and look at the amount of posts there.

Oh, but I do think there is a number of people who are into Guild Wars, but as I said, I'd written about this in preivous posts which asked the same question you do.

To summerize, then the - as I see it after years playing MMOGs myself - primary reason is that the main selling point of MMOGs are the communities - playing with and against each other. Thus people discussing MMOGs usually do it in "lumps", and thus they are usually confined at a few (often semi-official) forums with a vast number of unused forums. This is why the MMOG forums at GB is somewhat more un-used then so many of the other forums at GB.
(There are a number of other reasons as well, but you can find them by searching).

i think a guild wars forum would be okay but a spot dedicated to quests and walkthroughs is kinda hard in a game has different quests for each charector type but mit is possible just alot of work. that and the demand for it on this websitem is small if you would like to see a website that works with guild wars alone, do a google search or goto guilds wars website and use there community link to find one thats what i did i got my guild wars fix from there

@Xandax: Would you please remove the poll from this thread? I didn't know that Buck had already outlawed Guild Wars, and I don't want him to think I'm trying to go against him for any reason. The poll seems to be heading in one direction anyway, so it has served it's purpose. Thank you!

@Hill-Shatar: Good point. If it was my forum I would feel the same way! About the walkthrough, I can't tell if your being sarcastic to prove your point, or seriously asking if I would write a detailed walkthrough. In any case, I see where you're coming from, as putting together a Guild Wars walkthrough would be next to impossible. Especially with patches constantly adding and fixing things.

@SyntheticD: I agree. There are certain sites specifically dedicated to Guild Wars, so if I want to talk about it I will go there!

I closed the poll.
It isn't so much that Guild Wars is "outlawed", moreso that there haven't been found enough support to add a forum for it. Discussions about GW can still take place in this forum, much like many other MMOGs.

no that is not true, i have played through the pve aspect of the game many times, and it is a very linear game. the pvp part of it is supposed to be what people want to play, and pve is there just to grind and unlock skills for pvp in most peoples' opinions. it only takes a day to rush a char through, do all quests and unlock skills. whenever they update the game, it is usualy an update for pvp and doesnt touch pve at all.

@Raumoheru: I have also played through the PvE section of Guild Wars. However, I haven't quite finished it yet because as soon as I got the skills I was waiting for I have played mostly PvP. I agree it would not be TOO hard to write a walkthrough, but it's more effort than I'm willing to put in.
