It'd probably run similarily to that of Star Wars Galaxies. Should be interesting to see the Star Trek universe put into such a setting. Especially considering Guilds would more than likely be what was needed to run a ship effectively.

I tend to be wary of MMOGs, but this sounds pretty good! I have always thought the Star Trek universe would be better suited to this type of genre rather than the FPS style games it has spawned.

Personally, the game looks great! I wouldnt mind getting something like this myself... I am, admittedly, a trekker (I hated the older series like TOS and TNG, therefore not a Trekkie ) and have played the Armada series, so this would be a nice change of pace.

The site doesn't seem to be updated that much... not a good sign, in my opinion. However, it is in production, never the less. Hope this will be a good game... I never played the FPS games they produced for the Star trek Universe.

I got some information from the FAQ section of the site.

Anyways, this is a MMORPG. I think that some more responses might come from it being in that forum.

sad news.

i started to see advertisement trailers for stargate worlds, then i remembered about star trek online. well, i was looking for an update on this game. supposedly, all the staff was laid off. evidentally, the 'rights' have changed hands, so it's kinda up in the air whether they will continue, start over, or just trash it completely.

i'll try to remember to check again in a couple months.

Personally - I wouldn't be too sure of Star Trek Online, until they set a release date and the game goes gold.
Perpetual have already cancelled a MMO very late in development (or rather many years into development), and supposedly close to its projected release date.

While I'd like to see a Star Trek Online - not cause I'm a Treckie, but because I feel the market needs quality Sci-Fi MMOs to balance out the fantasy ones - I want to see it actually make it to release, before I trust it.
