Master Thesis Survey on MMORPG's

Hi,

I’m a university student from Belgium currently in my final year of Communication Sciences at the Catholic University of Louvain. I’ve also been an avid gamer for most of my life. When the time came to pick a subject for my Master thesis the choice was clear: “Something with games”. I then chose MMORPG’s because i find them incredibly fascinating and dangerously appealing. The point of my thesis is to find out exactly why people play these kind of games.

Below you will find a link to a short survey, which will only take about 5 minutes to complete. You would really help me out if you would take a moment and fill it out. I would like to stress that anonimity is guaranteed and that the data will be treated objectively. No mainstream media dramatisation here, this is serious research which I’ll have to defend to a comission of professors. Anyway, I hope to receive your answers soon! Thanks in advance!

Just note for everyone thinking if this survey is real...
The university this person is speaking of does exists, as it was rather easily found by Google, and at least the user with that e-mail exists, as there was a way provided in the uni's webiste to search students...

Haven't done the survey yet, but probably will later today...
Just a curious, as you said in your post that you wan't to find out why people are playing MMORPGs, why didn't you put any questions relating to the reasons to you survey? At least for me it would have made sense to answer it as well when considering the point of your thesis...

Thanks for the feedback and fill outs. Sorry about the late reply, as you can imagine I'm pretty busy at the moment writing my thesis. I'm afraid I don't quite follow you Kipi. Are you saying I should have asked why people filled out the survey? Either way, I have to focus my questions: more questions = more work = more time. There are a million things i could have asked but then it would've been impossible to process all the data (only have three more months). I currently have only 290 responses, a number I am looking to double at least. So if there is any way you guys could get me there by spreading the word or something, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Inkbiegel, please don't bump your thread. If people want to reply, they will. Bringing it to their attention a second time will only get them to complain to me, as one has already done.

I'll leave this thread open for now in case serious questions arise, but I would appreciate it if you otherwise wait for responses. And needless to say, no response is necessary to these comments.
