I've installed the game, installed all patches up to patch 3. Running it on Windows 7 but oddly shift ~ doesn't open the console. Would you have any idea how I can fix this?

Since you say the game will run on other resolutions, this may not work, but in some cases the CTD is caused by the copy-protection (somehow), and you can get around the problem by using a no-cd crack.

Bear in mind that these cracks are legal (and they preserve your disc drive!), but only if you retain possession of your discs. If you lose, sell, or give away your discs and play the game, you're guilty of piracy, so do be careful and lawful. I can't tell you where to get such a crack, but google should be able to find one for you.

Some people, as a result of the service pack 2 update for windows XP, experience a black screen and a crash to desktop (CTD) when they try to run the game. There is a fix for this, if you encounter it, but you will have to PM me for ask around, as gamebanshee.com has asked us to keep it on the q.t."

Please advise as to what i need to know. Ive read many forums, and followed your direction to the letter. The game will run after i take these steps, but once i edit .cfg to set custom res (1680x1050), it ctd on loading, doesnt get to menu. I do see the D&D splash screen in 1680x1050 on load, but then i get dumped. Ive read that 1680x1050 is perfectly usable as a custom res for them game.

Hi, I've recently purchased ToEE and have tried installing the patches, however whatever iteration of patch I run I get a CTD on start of the game, you are alleged to have a fix, please help !!!

I'm a latecomer to playing ToEE. I installed tonight (the late, patched, budget version picked up from Target online many moons ago for $15...) and tried to run, but I'm also getting the black screen + CTD immediately. Could you let me know the trick to getting around this?

Edit - Tried using a no-cd patch as well, but to no avail.

Hello Lord Plothos. I REALLY WANNA PLAY THE FREAKING GAME but as you mentioned before im getting the desktop crash bug ( oh and its about ToEE). Help!

I recently picked up Temple of Elemental Evil on the cheap, and after digging through some threads on the issue got it up and running with official patches 1 and 2, and the Co8 mod.

However, there is a crash to desktop error that occurs when I try to play the game, whether with the Co8 mod or without. So, a little bit of googling turned up your post on the TOEE board on gamebanshee.com giving information about a SP2 fix. The fix is supposed to be kept quiet for some reason, so here I am PMing you!

I'm stuck here. I've done several iterations of uninstall/install and can't get the blasted thing to work. If you can offer any assistance, I'd really appreciate it.
