Problems At The End (Spoiler)

I am having some problems when i fight the final battle against the Chaos Dragon, i am a melee fighter and understod that thats not so optimal in this battle...however i didnt have and problems at all when i killed the Daeva guarding the entrence(the dragon) so i dont think i will have any problems killing this one as well.
But the problem is his summoning, i read in the Walktrough that there is a trap that i am supposed to detect and dissable but i never really used the detect skill så much so i only have about 30 in finding traps/doors and i cant detect the trap.

so i wounder if i am doing something wrong or if i simply have to little in the skill to see it?

does anyone have any tips about what i am to do about this, i am werry strong at melee fighting but about useless at anything else so i am having quite a hard time killing all the enemies and no time to hit the dragon if i have to fight of all the other enemies all the time.

Just before you go in, drink a thievery potion, it gives a bonus to trap finding. is there any other way of giving a big boost to the skill without sacrificing equiptment? maybe if you got space in your inventory, have a few items that gives bonuses, quickly put them on, find the trap, then switch back to your normal fighting gear. i dunno, ive never gotten to the end, but that would seem the best way to me.

i equiped a belt that gave me +20 to the skill and used my 15skillpoints to ad to the skill so now i have 53 in the finding traps skill but i still cant find it, are there anyone here who have done this battle who can say how much you had in the skill at the time to detect the trap and how long it took for you to find it?
