| | | Without getting too specific (I plan a major post later related to peoples parties) heres my party as it currently stands, I'm pretty far into the game.
[characters ability scores as they currently stand, all mods included(str/dex/con/int/wis/chr)]
LEADER [10/20/10/12/12/22]
Name: Gosthridah
Description: Male Drow Bard7/Sorcerer7 (the fact that he has equal parts Bard and Sorcerer has severly stunted his growth as a Bard and as a Sorcerer, but he's good as a support caster, archer, and especially a diplomat nonetheless)
Primary Weapon: Bow
Secondary Weapon(s): Long Sword & Shield
TANK1 [18/15/18/10/14/10]
Name: Murmandamus I
Description: Male Aasimar Paladin12/Fighter2 (started off with 2 levels of fighter, then converted to paladin, as per my plan all along)
Primary Weapon: Great Sword
Secondary Weapon(s): Bow, Flail
TANK2 [24/22/18/5/10/1]
Name: Vai'Laar
Description: Male Half-Orc Barbarian14/Fighter (4 levels of fighter to get weapon specialization)
Primary Weapon: Dual Long Sword and Short Sword in off hand
Secondary Weapon(s): Bow, Mace, Darts
CASTER [8/18/12/18/13/10]
Name: Zhora
Description: Female Strongheart Halfling Rogue2/Wizard12 (didn't quite work out the way I planned and won't even get 8th level spells, but I can live with it. One grevious error I made with her is to waste a feat on Dash in an effort to make her a good scout, but my Monk turned out to be better for that role [and rightfully so])
Primary Weapon: Sling
Secondary Weapon(s): Quarterstaff
HEALER [18/12/14/10/18/10]
Name: Blood of Kane
Description: Male Human Fighter1/Battleguard of Tempus13 (funny thing is that I picked Battleguard of Tempus specifically for the free axe focus feat and what happens: I end up using a warhammer as his main weapon, go figure)
Primary Weapon: War Hammer & Shield
Secondary Weapon(s): Crossbow, returning Throwing Axe
SCOUT/SPECIAL OPS [19/18/10/8/20/6]
Name: Gar'in
Description: Male Moon Elf Monk of the Broken Ones14 (he's a Monk, what else can I say about him, he's awesome. Of course a human may have been a better fit, but I couldn't have a party without a Moon Elf, thats just wrong)
Primary Weapon: Fists
Secondary Weapon(s): Crossbow, Sure Striking Short Sword
You'll undoubtedly notice that 3 of my characters have some fighter in them, but not one is a true fighter. This was in an effort to get that bonus feat at first and second level for my Paladin and Barbarian and the bonus at 1st for my Cleric. I didn't want to limit his Cleric levels too much as it would have taken that much longer to get those higher level divine spells (can anyone say "Heal"). All three started off as fighters obviously, but after about 9 levels of Barbarian, I decided to give 2 more fighter levels to my Half-Orc to get weapon specialization)
"sorry, I guess I got more specific than I planned, couldn't help myself"

| | | Wild Elf Fighter (22/16/19/8/8/8) Lvl 12
Dual wielding Bastard Swords
HalfOrc Monk (21/16/16/6/16/2) Lvl 12
Had a DeepGnome monk, who was leveling way too slow...
Drow WatcherofHelm (18/12/16/6/22/10) Lvl 11
Decent Fighter and buffing spells. I always switch between Cleric and Druid. Had a Druid in the last run...
RockGnome Illusionist/Rogue (10/19/20/21/6/6) Lvl 6/6
Magic+SneakAttack. Has 3p in ArmoredArcana.High Int=AlltheSkillz
Aasimar Paladin/Sorcerer (10/18/14/10/8/22) Lvl 1/10
Finally had to try this combo. Lacks 2 Levels behind straight Sorc, but still rocks.
DeepGnome Ranger (16/23/14/8/14/2) Lvl10
First I wanted to go with 5 people, but decided to get a Ranger through. Nice Archer, blocks attacks from the back with good AC and GreatSword.

| | | Leader (Tank) - Female Human Fighter (dual-weapon)
Tank2 - Male Human Paladin (sword/shield)
Healer - Female Human Cleric (mace/shield)
Multipurpose - Male Human Bard (Bow)
Scout/Archer - Male Sheild Dwarf Rogue (Bow)
Caster - Female Human Wizard (Poison throwing dagger)
Only gripe I had is that the dual-weapon scenario for my fighter is crappy at higher levels. After investing in the Feats to dual-wield with low penalties, it only gives one extra attack (i.e. 4 instead 3 per round). For the extra strength damage, the 2-handed weapons are better if you're not using a shield.
Rapid Shot is a must for characters routinely using ranged weapons. All 3 of mine (including the mage) have it and use it.
The bard is great for filling in the gaps in the team, as he can cast spells on the fly, use the War Chant of the Sith, and has a decent AC to play blocker when the rear rank gets attacked. My thief is mostly a pure archer and targets the spellcasters to buy the tanks time.
Not a power-party really, but great fun. I love some of the dialogue that pops up when the Paladin gets into the conversation. There have been numerous times I wanted my fighter to slap him upside the head and say "Shut up and stay in the back of the party! You're gonna get us killed!" Like the time he started preaching morals to Druegar.... It's a riot. I was laughing so hard I cried. |

| | | tiefling rogue / bard, as far as talking / scouting it's a great party leader, but in hindsight the ecl + multi classing really hampers the bard, not to mention the cha penalty. next time round human straight up bard.
half orc ftr / barbarian, she brings it. by far the kill leader +40%, uses a variety of weapons from great swords -> quaterstaves -> dual short swords. -> spear. (uses the dual swords most)
dwarven druid / ftr -> mostly tanks or throws a hammer, fights in shapechange form a lot. (next time my druid will have lesser physical stats + rely on the shapes for fighting, a buffed shapechanged druid is a wonder to behold.
asamar cleric / paladin -> fourth leg of the tripod. i screwed up the mix w/ this char, configured his stats for a cleric then leveled him too much as a paladin, as a result i have a very wise, charming, weak ftr with a nice assortment of low level spells. fights w/ bow, dart, spear, or mace.
gnome rogue / illusionist - > traps and lock guy + backup mage, like this mix like this char. he's a more wizardly jan jansen.
wild elf sorc / barbarian - > two levels of babrarian provide some hit points and speed, sorc supplies firepower. thinking about taking an asamar sorc next time, hopeful that the resistances and bonus cha will make up for the ecl penalty.

| | | the group male aasimar Paladin-straight no multi (approx. 12 level)-battle axe and shield, great sword, crossbow
male human Fighter-straight no multi (approx. 13 level)-longsword and shield, bow
female wild elf ranger-straight no multi (approx. 13 level)-bow, dual wield mace and dagger
male ghostwise halfling-rogue/barbarian (approx. 8 rouge/5 barb)-sling and shield, club and shield
male half-elf druid-straight no multi (approx. 13 level)-sling and shield, mace and shield
male human sorcerer-straight no multi (approx. 13 level)-spell, staff, and crossbow
i am currenlty in the monastary and things are progressing nicely. no bugs so far. great game. well worth the wait. por and nwn will continue to collect dust and hang in limbo as uncompleted games. as you can tell i am not fond of multiclassing (i still like the 2nd ed. rules with regards to this area). i don't like taking one or two levels of a class just to pick up bonuses (ie. one level ranger for dual wield or one level of paladin for the saves). |

| | | Group? I've tried several actually. And the only one that really seems to work for me is the solo sorceress. *shrug* difficult at times, but summon spells are extremely helpful =-)

I can't imagine playing this game with anything less then 6 characters, theres no point.

| | | My favorite character:
Marla:
Sorc X/1 level pali (did that at level 6 or so, forget) for the saving throws.
Wild Elf
Str. 4
That's right, only 4. She can still carry a bunch of stuff .. keys, scrolls, bullets etc.
12 dex (more then that now, item)
16 con
14 int
12 wis
18 char (22 with lvling up and an item)
Her saving throws are pretty sweet. She does a lot of mirror image, flame shield etc.. gets right into peoples faces and doesn't hesitate to throw a fireball at point blank range (or any number of other nasty spells .. don't her much .. most of the time not at all). Her spells consist of a lot of nasties, mainly stuff meant to hurt monsters. A few defensive things thrown in.
The 14 int gives some good skills .. and some dialogue options that I would otherwise not get.
Evocation feat maxed out (I use lots of evocation spells .. c. orb, magic missile, fire ball .. etc.). She has one extra feat on bow. Combat casting, other stuff.
I also have a wiz in this party (gnome illusionist) which pumps her and everybody else up with extra stuff. The two make a great team.
She can bluff, do the diplomatic stuff and kick some serious asz.
Wasn't much good at the start, but come level 5 or 6 or so.. ohhh ya.
Edit: Ok, a little about the rest of my party
Shield Dwarf Fighter. Obvious stuff. Axe, power attack, cleave etc.
Cleric of Maskx/Barbarian 4. Another one of my favorites. He's so cool.
Rogue x/Ranger 1: Fun guy to have around
Wiz/Illusionist. She does more then her share of the work.
Paladin/Fighter: He's pretty cool.

| | Here's the party I'm currently fooling around with:
Aasimar Paladin of Helm/Fighter
Gold Dwarf Fighter
Moon Elf Ranger
Human Rogue/Fighter (very cool)
Moon Elf Cleric
Moon Elf Wizard/Rogue
This party hasn't been very exciting, save for the Aasimar and the Rogue/Fighter, which are some very good characters. |
