Potion making in the lab

I have been running in and out of the Yuan Ti labs for what seems like an eternity trying to find someone to fix the south lever so I can make some potions. The D'hey guy is never around and it keeps telling me that the lever has been corroded with too much acid and that it needs to be fixed. I don't think I accidently killed D'hey but he's never around. I have done everything required (altered Mandrake, wyvern claws, return sword to dead guy, talk to Nheero) and even cleaned out the 3rd level but I need the poisons to get through some doors and a Histachi brew to fake out the eye. HELP!!

You have to talk to Nheero (sp?) in the left prison cell / first level first. After you have talked to him and solved a minor quest, he'll send you to lab and you'll encounter the alchemist in the lab.

Took me some hours to realize this too ...

The only thing he asks is if I have the modified brew ready for him yet.

Have you tried to rest in the lab?

He normally should appear after Nheero gave you the task to brew the potion, but he doesn't before. Onvce you've seen him, just put the modified root into the eastern desk and rest for eight hours. You can brew the poison yourself, once the alchemist is around.

I've rested for the equivalent of 2 days and still no alchemist. And the south handle is still broke so I can't make the stinkin' things myself.

I don't think you killed the alchemist because he usually appears after the fight. After having several problems with the potions myself I did everything exactly as it is quoted below - if that doesn't help it could be either a bug (I had to repeat parts of level 2, 3 and 4 due to a bug in level 4 ...) or - more likely - something I simply don't know.
