Potential "not enough portraits" problem

I was thinking of having a Drow mercenary party sent from the Underdark but then thought - will there be enough Drow portraits?

I have a feeling there'll only be 2 - 1 for male and 1 for female.

I also have a feeling the same problem may come up with other races and subraces...

...can anybody confirm / deny this?

I frankly didn't see many portraits in the beta, but I'm not sure the portrait-making is finished. At this point, far too many portraits had that kind of wispy look that the original IWD portraits used (in fact, several look reused). Personally, I preferred the more heavily characterized images of BG1 and BG2, but that's just personal preference.

Maybe there will not be that many for each subrace but if my memory serves me right there are 16 races and subraces. You were saying only 2 portraits for each gender. Thats what 4 x 16 or 64 portraits not too shabby. I've also heard that all the portraits from the original IWD as well as Heart of Winter and Tales of the Luremaster (if that had any additional portraits) would be included. I would not expect 64 new portraits but I would expect them to concentrate their efforts on underrepresented races. Plus you can always add all the portraits from the Baldur's gate series. That solar Portrait would make a sweet Aasimar, don't know if it has a big version.

What I saw had nothing specific for any subrace; in fact, one or two of the portraits were full length images glad entirely in armor, no character showing. And many of the images were also present in IWD1.

Question:

There are tons of portraits on Icebounds' site. Are they official portraits? Most looked like they were from Heavy Metal...and I know a few are.

Some are BG2 portraits recoloured and re done. Some look good.
