party and experience

i see that the level cap is at 30 and that the largest party can be a six-men-gang. how does the number of members affect the game-play in long terms? i think that the EXP to all members, so i thought to take 4 characters so i can reach those 30 levels. but what if i take all six, and also inlude some races with level adjustment? will i reach 30 or stop somewhere around +25.

I'm afraid I really don't recall at what level I ended (I had a full party with some Aasimar). I can however tell you I ended up fairly high level and scaled for the final fight. If you want to overpower yourself even more you can always rest and fight for more XP.

Your party's rounded down average character level will be 16 at the end of the game. My party had 4 level 17 humans, 1 level 17 dwarf and 1 level 16 aasimar at the end. If you think you'll level faster by omitting the last 2 you'll end with 4 level 16 humans instead.
The party of 4 needs 1/3 less XP to get from 15 level 16, afterwards it will get 0 XP from the standard enemies of this chapter while the party of 6 will keep on gaining XP until it reaches the rounded down average party level 16 too.

This will happen at other levels too, orcs or goblins just aren't considered challenging enough for a level 9 party to yield XP for example.
Only at the beginning the party of 4 will level considerably faster than a party of 6.

Because of HoF the cap is at 30. In normal mode, you end up somewhere between average level of 15-17, and after restarting the game with the same party at the HoF mode, you will end up somewhere in 28-30.

Though with the party of 4, it's more propable that you end up at the level 30 during the HoF.

It's the hardest difficulty setting. You enable it by clicking on it in the configuration file. Enemies are a lot tougher, and you gain a lot more experience, while the loot is also a lot better.

The acronym stands for Heart of Fury. You should finish the game with your party, enable the HoF mode, and start a new game with the same (lvl 15-17) characters.
