Question New Member Looking For Help With Ingame Icons Please?

Hello. I'm new here. I'm not sure if I'll be spending a lot of time here, cause I'm only needing help with one thing only right now.

I know this game has been around for quite a few years now, and so it isn't exactly new, (judging by the graphics and other ingame options) so I'm hoping there are forum members who still post here who can help me out please?

Anyhow, here's the minor little problem I'm having in "Icewind Dale 2"

Whenever I move my cursor over a character (player or npc) or any of the icons in the bottom of the menu, (like the spells and abilities e.t.c) it's a little rectangular black box with the name and info in it.

I took a screenshot to show anyone what I mean. (I presume screenshots are allowed to be used here) Click Here!

Instead of having a little rectangular black box like that, I know there is another option. I think it's some kind of a pointer instead, (which I would greatly prefer) but having looked around in the options menu, and checking different boxes, trying out different things, I have not been able to find the option to get rid of the box thing and have this other pointer option instead.

Hoping that I have explained enough for anyone to understand what I mean, could anyone help me out and tell me how I change my pointer option please?

My regards,
~Mystaraa~

I believe you want to change the "tooltip" feature.

Hi there.

I've been worried for nearly 2 whole days that I wouldn't get a reply, cause I know that Icewind Dale isn't exactly a new game and has probably been around for quite a few years now. But I'm really glad that someone out there could answer my reply. So thanks for that!

Could you tell me how I change the "tooltip" feature please?
I'm not sure where to find it.

It's in the in-game options menu, not the configuration menu.

Go to Gameplay, then move the "Tool Tip Delay" slider to the right. The further right you move it, the longer you have to hold your cursor over a figure for the box to pop up. You can disable the feature entirely by moving the slider all the way over.

Thanks a lot for your help!
I managed to find it eventually.

I decided not to completely disable the tooltip feature, because a lot of quests have you finding certain npc's for them, and so I found the need to still use the little info box from time to time so that I could read the names of the npc's, and possibly other things too. So I just placed the tooltip slider somewhere in the middle.

Thanks again.
