Need Battle Squares help

Trying to get Oria's key. I have read numerous posts on just having to complete "three-in-a-row" to be able to receive Oria's key. Nothing happens when I do this. The Ice Golem Champion just says "Square Obtained" then "Select Destination Square" each time. The game effectively never ends.

What am I doing wrong? Is this a bug?

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Have you done as the walkthrough on this site shows? Once you've completed 3-in-a-row it should say Rank 1 completed.

I've also never heard of a bug like this.

Yes, I followed the walkthrough. Three-in-a-row does not end the game. I never see the words "Rank 1 completed".

I am at a loss as to how to proceed from here.

What you have to do is complete 3 in a row 5 times. Each time you have to complete the 3rd square of the 3 in a row as the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th square you complete. That is how you complete a rank.
