Unhappy My bard cannot use spells!

I have created a bard. Single class, level 4, wearing no armor.

She cannot memorize her spells, though she has several in her spellbook.

What's up with that?

Give her high charisma instead of high intelligence.

Can you cast spells?

Bards don't learn spells from scrolls, they select some when they level up. You still have to rest to have access to your selection the next day.

Bards are like sorcs: they don't actually need to memorize instances of spells. They just have 'em available. When you want to cast, select the appropriate spell. You'll see the number and kinds of spells you have for a given level. That's all you need.
