Mother Egenia ( SPOILERS )

Not really a how-to question, but rather one of continuity. In IWD1, you're sent out to look for Mother Egenia. I did find her in Dragon's Eye, but after the trouble with Yxonsomething was resolved, I never managed to find her afterward and even returning to the Temple in Kuldahar didn't solve that "quest" - the stand-in priestess kept saying that there was no word of Egenia.

Now, in IWD2, they say she disappeared during IWD1, and I'm wondering if they actually were already planning her ghost appearance in IWD2 back then, or if they built up on a bug ( a non-resolved quest ). Since nobody ever mentioned her again in IWD1, I always assumed that the quest was just forgotten.

[[ Also... 8 Chambers, Black Raven Monastery. Most annoying "battle sequence" EVER. I was so mad at the end that I slaughtered the whole damn temple just for the heck of it, even after managing to go through all chambers. ]]

They built it out of a forgotten quest. Some people have looked at the code for IWD1 to figure it out, along with various other oddities.

If you're saying that about the Eight Chambers, can I take it that you haven't finished Battle Squares yet?

Once you have the hang of the Eight Chambers, and especially if you have a monk, it isn't too bad. In contrast, there is no easy resolution to the 250 battles of Battle Squares. Do it once or twice for your personal experience, but after that... thank goodness for the Weimar mod.

Mhh, I thought so. Thanks for confirming!

I finished one rank of Battle Squares, then I was teleported away to the priestess' room. That was after the Talisman swept the floor with me. The difference between Battle Squares and 8 Chambers is that you get to keep your equipment, and that the fights in 8 Chambers can be hard if you're NOT a monk. The class never interested me, honestly, so I didn't make one for my current party.

The only problem I really had in 8 Chambers was in the Immolation Room, where you fight against the Brass Monks and the Flame Strikes. I'd reloaded about 20 times both with my tank ( pure fighter ) and rogue/ranger ( evasion, etc ) and watched them get pwned... until enlightenment dawned and I sent in my Cleric, summoned a Fire Elemental, cast Sanctuary on myself, and kept runnning around the room like a rabbit on bad speed dodging the Flame Strikes, while the Elemental made mincemeat out of the monks.

Ningengirai, that's one of the top notch ways of dealing with the 8th chamber without a monk. You can also do the same thing with a mage with a Fire Elemental/Invisibility combo.

In truth, after monks, clerics are just about the best way to deal with most of the other rooms, due to their summoning options, etc. The chambers are really meant for monks, so it's not really a surprise that your tanks had dificulty.
