Luck - What exactly does it affect?

I'm pretty sure that Luck (from the spell or the Tymora's Loops) affects the following:

Hit rolls (including critical)
Damage rolls
Damage from Fire Shield spells

However, does Luck affect saving throws? With a luck bonus of +6 (two Loops), my guy should never critically fail (throw a 1) a saving throw, yet I think I've critically failed a couple of times...

Also, does it affect damage from spells? It doesn't seem to since spells like Sunfire give out widely varying damage even though it should only be a D6 (and thus with +6 luck, every roll should be 6). Note I'm comparing guys who all made or all failed their saving throw.

Does luck affect anything else?

Thanks!

luck bonus depends *all* rolls made by your PC!

including all damage rolls including spells and the chance on critical hits - but it doesn't affect e.g. save rolls of your enemy!

you shouldn't get critical fails, but enemies still can score critical hits!

so luck is definetly the by far most powerfull bonus you can get!

for details on luck read the JUPP guide!

I'm 100% sure that I've gotten critical failures on saving throws (I have dice rolls turned on and I've rolled '1' several times and failed).

I've also played spells like Sunfire (which is based on D6) and the damage for different opponents has varied a lot despite my luck of +6 which should turn all D6 rolls into 6. Right?

I just could imaging that if you roll a "1" it always counts as critical miss (zhe +6 will be added later) but that shouldn't be that way...

Have you tested different spells on damage?

Damage can also vary caused by immunities and saving throws of the enemy!

IIRC, it seems like in D&D that a "1" is always a miss/failed save/etc. and a 20 is always a hit/success/whatever check. I keep the dice roll function active as well and seem to recall occasions where an opponent hit me with an attack roll of 20 even though several minuses were applied. Such as 20-3= 17 and hit my character who had an AC of 21.

Yea, a roll of 1 always means a failure, but isn't Luck supposed to affect the rolls themselves? As in rolling a D20 with +6 luck, you'll only roll 7-20. This is actually true for my attack rolls; I've NEVER rolled a critical miss on an attack roll after I've gotten my 2 Loops. On the other hand, I have rolled 1-20 on my saving throw rolls, which seems to indicate it doesn't affect saves.

Also, Luck doesn't appear to affect the magic and fire damage from weapons like the Belib's Everlasting Torch. It gives 1D6 Fire damage, which means my +6 Luck should always roll a 6 with it. I see it do 1,2,3,4,5,6 damage on the same type of enemy, so it seems again that Luck doesn't work here.

Note also that those Sunfire damage numbers I was comparing was for the same enemy and for the same save result (i.e. both successful or both failed). Luck doesn't seem to affect the damage or does so in a different way (since the way I understand it, those 15 D6 should all be 6's and thus have the same damage, given the same enemy save result and resistances).

According to the manual (and indeed the 3e rules), when you score a "critical hit", you actually score a THREAT. The game then rolls again.
If this roll is a successful "hit", you then score a critical hit - otherwise I imagine it becomes a critical miss.

I'm sure that this occurs, because I tend to get a lot of critical misses (because my attack bonuses are pretty low).

As other people say, luck affects ALL rolls - this includes any skill check (thieving, spellcasting/writing, etc...) and those feats that have dice rolls (the Rogue only feats, for example).

AFAIR you are right with the 2nd check, but a critical miss means rolling a "1"!
