Amazon.co.uk accepts pre-orders for the 13th of September ...

That's half and a month to wait ... aargh!

I was at www.interplay.com and it says that IWD2 went gold on 5 August. So why is the release day still 28 August? When ToB went gold, it was in stores five days later.

Also, does anyone know if they're going to have a special "collectors edition" with extra goodies and a higher price tag?

I understood that they were postponing the release to put some more time between it and NWN.

Bastards! I want IWD2 now, dammit! They could at least say something creative like, "We don't want retailers to be understocked" or "We'd like to coordinate a worldwide release date so folks in the US can't spoil the excitement on GameBanshee for everyone else."

Sure there's a collector ed. and looks good too. Just check the official website, in case you can preorder it from there too (if you live in the States or Canada only tho)

Well, if it helps any, even reviewers still lack copies. There's some transfer going on of PR divisions, and the person who handles distributing those copies is on vacation. Guess what? I've reloaded IWD.

i can't wait

i have been waiting for this game since the original release date and had the special edition pre-ordered through interplay. i ended up buying that crappy NWN game to see me through. what a waste of money. unless you are a serious online gamer or like designing modules don't waste your time or money.

i think with iwdII we will know what we are getting.

oh to be back on the frozen tundra.

It is somewhat strange but a few months ago many of us, including me, weren't thinking of IWD2 to much due to the release of Morrowind and NWN.

Maybe we are looking for something similar to BG series and IWD than something new(note: i consider morrowind and NWN great games) so i too am looking forward to IWD2, but once again i'll have to wait more to get it cause i happen to live in Europe.

In my case, it wasn't "something old" I was looking for, but anything in third-person to replace NWN, which I found boring and repetitive.

After you play through IWD once or twice, it's not very exciting either, and that's with the expansions.

I agree about NWN. I only probably played about ten hours worth and haven't touched it since. To each his/her own I suppose.

I was reading that gaming companies like to release their games around the summer time or christmas so that school doesn't conflict with the selling of their games. I guess IWD2 won't have that luxury. Still I betcha it sells a ton regardless. I'm real anxious for it...I've lost all interest in viedo games...I watched a friend play WCIII and it looked kinda boring to me. I like the inifiti engine games, though I'm reading that it's an aging engine and won't get much more use in the future.

it would be cool to see a lord of the rings or dragonlance computer game in the baldurs gate style though.

Even if NWN won't offer much fun for singlegame players it will surely fulfill its purpose offering a unique multiplayer experience. I have to admit that the single campaing is not that bad, i found it quite amuzing after letting the thought that i'm not playing Baldur's Gate and continued the plot a little.

I would still try out IWD2 even if NWN was much better, but now i have one more reason to look forward to it.

Of the big RPGs scheduled for release this year, I, too, was most eagerly anticipating IWD2. Yet, if it had come out when originally promised, I wouldn't have bought MW and NWN when I did. So my summer's been filled with sheer gaming goodness and, now, autumn will be too.
