| | | heart of fury mode Newbie question here:
I was looking at the configuration console and it said that Heart of Fury mode is recommended for parties that are level 15 or higher. Has anyone survived HoF using, initially, lower level characters? Can I play HoF using Level 1 characters without suffering huge frustration, teeth gnashing, and pulling of hair by the roots? |

| Try it, you'll get to see your party hacked to chunky little pieces by the first goblin you encounter.
Level 1 characters are a big no no... |

| | | I'm assuming then that I can always switch to HoF mode later in the game after I have leveled up enough to withstand the super-enemies? |

You need to be about 15th level orr so. It is made so that when you finish IceWind Dale 2 you can restart the whole game in the Heart of Fury mod for extended and new experiances. There is additional and improved items from origianl game. Experiance and difficulty is matched accordingly. You can in effect make new charactors or edit new charactors or replay the ones from an original non-heart of fury game., You can not switch in middle of game. Option is in the configuration somewhere, have fun and post back your grand choices. |

You can start HoF game with party that has not finished normal mode. This can be done by exporting your characters from normal mode, then while creating new party to HoF mode, you just use import-option in Character creation -screen.

| | | The way to do this game seems to be to complete it once without HoF, then replay the game with the same characters again in HoF mode.
My question is: If I do this, do I keep my equipment from the first run through the game after starting a HoF mode game? What about money?

| | | Yes you keep items except Quest related items and items in containers (gem bags, scrollcases etc). Money does not get transferred.
Best is to buy or keep the most expensive items you can resell at the beginning of Heart of Fury without unduly overweighing your characters during the Final Battle. You can just drop the items from your party members after the dialogue with Isair and Madae as they have been exported just before this cutscene.
Of course your party if imported from the auto export start HoF with no experience from the final battle actually. Unless you decide to manually export them just before either Isair or Madae dies at the second phase of the final battle.

| | | i have actually attempted heart of fury with a party of level 1s. SUICIDE i know. AND i actually survived for a while. This was without the targos undead mod, or any other mods or cheats. I started with a basic party i had made myself. I avoided all battles with goblins at first. Instead i went to the tavern (without being spotted) and kitted myself out. i also picked up all the items i could on the way. With my party now pretty pumped up, i decided to take on my first goblin. Just one for now, the one on the top left of the map. I got a rogue to sneak attack him for a neglible amount of damage, then legged it. I led the foolish goblin to Jorun. Jorun pounded on the goblin and so the goblin decided to fight back. I let them have a go at eachother till the goblin was almost dead, then started hacking too. I wasnt attacked at all, an managed to kill the gobo! i got a ridiculous amount of XP and levelled up. (all true i swear) 1 goblin down, 99 to go. repeat previous steps. |

| | I never thought of having jorun do that. But I did have a summoning party once all 1st level. 3 sorcerors a druid a cleric and a deep gnome monk.
I approached with the monk and then ran away leading them into my summons. The summons are as powerful as them so they died. It didn't work to good when I went into the warehouse and faced lots of goblins at once. Maybe if I reloaded more...
But I really didn't see a victory at even the 2nd battle for targos (against caballus).
