Crossbow Use - Please Help

I want to upgrade my Lvl 14 Barbarian's crossbow. She's currently getting 3 attacks per round at +24/19/14 with a Heavy Crossbow +1 (Damage +3, Attack Bonus +3, no other special features). She's been using this weapon for quite a while. Now when I equip her with a Light Crossbow +3 (Damage +3, Attack Bonus +5, no other special features) she only gets 1 attack per round. What gives?

My other characters are having the same problem, 1 of my fighters goes from 4 attacks per round to only 1, after changing to, what appears to be, a better crossbow (both crossbows have fairly minor magical features).

Any thoughts???

I'll fill you in on what I dicovered, Some crossbows let have more attacks than others, you'll just have to experment to see wich ones yield the right way. From what I know about the game, I have a level12bard/12renger that wields a crossbow that is +5attack/+10damage and I think get like 5 attacks a round. I noticed that most of the crossbows give you about half that.
