Summons and Spectral Guards in HoF TotL

Does anybody have any recommendations for which are the best summons to use when fighting Spectral Guards in TotL HoF mode?

So far they are the only enemy I've met (after doing up to the end of Gloomfrost in HoW and up to the end of The Severed Hand in IWD) which I'm actually really struggling with. One or two at a time are no problem but the groups of them are so I need to distract them, but they get through my summons in no time, even when I use spells like entangle as well. I have access to the highest level mage, druid and cleric spells.

Well, I can't say that the summons on IWD are particularly strong, even those from the last Monster Summoning spell. The best I could reccomend is to summon several Bone Guards and cast Haste on them. When I played that part, my Fighter/Mage/Thief and Bard could take about eight, fully buffed, head on, until they needed to rest.

My party is about as far from a powergaming party you can get lol, and I've decided not to dual or multiclass anyone in it so I have to use tactics and stategy a lot. Its ok though, worked out that hasted and buffed shambling mounds and earth elementals take them down pretty fast

Yep, you got it. Shambling mounds are awesome. They are the summons du jour for HoW/TotL; especially against remorhaz and ice golems.

If you have a druid and items that give slashing resistance, a shapechanged water elemental can tank for you.
