shooting w/o advancing?

When I shoot bow with left click, so also advancing. Is there a way to stand in place while shooting?

Ranged weapons have only a limited range. If you target an enemy out of range your archer will move until the location you assigned is near enough, even if the enemy is approaching.

Just don't command your archer to attack before the target is in range.
If you use scripts take a ranged attack script.

re: how to shoot?

Yeah. But how to stay in place and shoot instead of moving towards the enemies and get chopped?

Off the top of my head, I can think of two reasons why that might be happening.

1) You have "party AI" turned on, which is making your archer(s) act in strange ways. Turn it off to better control your characters.

2) You have insufficient arrows, and the archer switches to a melee weapon (e.g. fist) to continue attacking.

3) Your mouseclick misses the target and therefore a move command is given.

I've had something similar happen, but only with my mages carrying slings. The suicidal little gnomes would sometimes run up to engage within melee range, despite having more than enough bullets.

I've never had the problem with bows, though (unless I ran out of arrows, as Aerich mentions).

it happens if they do not have a clear line of sight. just move them so they do and they will not run towards the enemy.
