Question about XP:

Why is it that different members of my party have different amounts of XP?

I'm not talking about multi or dual classed characters here. I've had the same party from the start of the game, and while it's not much XP, my characters are at different levels of XP. I've never had a character die either. Can anybody explain why these guys don't have the same amount of XP?

thanks...

XP is divided equally among the characters for each kill or quest award. Of course, the amount of XP per kill or award is not always exactly divisible by the number of characters you have. In those cases, the extra point(s) of XP is given to the leader and the characters most closely following the leader.

Assuming you have 6 characters, A, B, C, D, E, and F, and you kill something worth 35 XP, A, B, C, D, and E will get 6 XP each for that kill, while F gets 5.

It's not really a big deal - it might end up to be a thousand or two difference at very high level, but the inequality is irrelevant once you make it that high.

If you want to even it out, periodically switch the order of your characters. I often move mages higher in the "chain" than thieves because thieves level up comparatively quickly.
