Unhappy Please help

I've just bought IWD Ultimate Collections and use Windows XP. I can install the game and creat a party but when I start trying to play, the game freezes once the initial narrative has played and won't let me get any further. If i press 'done' it just locks up the screen. I believe I don't need patches with the ultimate collection. Can anyone please help?

I have the same problem with Icewind Dale, Heart of Winter and Trials of the Luremaster installed. Only suggestion I found googling around was to turn off DirectX sound hardware acceleration, but that didn't help at all. Here's how if you want to try for yourself:
1. Start -> Run; type dxdiag in the box and hit return.
2. Click the "Sound" tab in the window that opens.
3. Move the slider all the way to the left and quit dxdiag. No reboot needed (AFAIK).

Anybody got IWD to run in WinXP SP2?

[Edit] Whaddaya know, I got it to run! Someone in another thread mentioned IWD2 having problems with recent NVIDIA drivers, so I installed the 56.72 drivers I found here and presto, no more crashes and IWD works just fine.

My suggestion to you, Lyra is to update all drivers for everything and Direct X to the latest version. The one IceWind gives you is probably an old version and maybe the newer one is for Windows XP. Good Luck and please let us know of your progress stsatus so maybe someone can help you.

Thanks so much. I've upgraded the drivers and it now works fine. Took me while to reply as I decided to play Baldurs Gate again and couldn't start IWD until I finished it! I'm v happy and really enjoying IWD
