Outline items and containers with 'ALT'

If you press and hold down your ALT key containers,doors and stash on the ground will be outlined in different colours, making sure you don't miss a thing. (Heart of Winter)

Dunno if this is listed in the manual.
I just found out myself, and thought that there might be others who didn't bother to read the manual to closely.

i think it does say it in the new manual under new features. its really use full.
