New Game patchs and Mod inquiry

I have built a new PC and have previouly finished this game twice. I want reinstall it so it is on my harddrive. I want a great file for IceWin Dale MODS and Patchs.
So I know some general and basic sites. If I could I would like to request a detailed list that could be worth installing and downloading for later? What are some expanded Patchs? What MODS are popular and what are general or interesting? This thread is for Trial of the Lure Master and Heart of Winter as well as Original IceWind Dale.
As a note I never MODed IceWind Dale before.

I am clueless concerning mods, but as I understand about patches the only patch you need for IWD 1 is included in HOW. So after loading IWD, load HOW right after that. Unless something has changed recently that is supposed to be the only patch you'll need.

Careful, Philos. The final patch is included in TotL, not HoW.

As for mods, the only one I can think of offhand is Auril's Bane. I've heard that it's great, although I haven't played it myself.

Edit: you may also hear about the mods Project Auril and Winter's Bane - Auril's Bane is a combination of the two. Check out the link I posted above for the FAQs, Readme, and download.

Didn't know TotL had a patch. Any idea what that one did/fixed?

Just a few minor issues that were still outstanding after previous patches - according to the readme: a bug with the "timeless body" (no fatigue) power of a druid, a couple of crash bugs, and a problem with dual-class characters not being able to reach lvl 30 in their second class.

The patch in TotL is v.1.42. There was a stand-alone patch for HoW issues, v.1.41. HoW also contained a patch, v.1.40, and there were earlier patches for non-HoW games, v.1.05 and v.1.06.

Note: you only need the last one in the sequence, so no separate downloading and installing of patches is necessary if you have TotL installed. In fact, installing earlier patches over a later patch leads to disastrous problems.
