Mage not copying spells?

My now level 16 mage (she's leveled twice now since the TOTL fiasco) can't memorize any spells over level 5. Is there a reason for that? Just curious.

Yes. Every class has one or more stats that are called "prime requisites" - the size of the stat(s) largely determines the success of individual characters in their chosen field.

For a mage, the PR is Intelligence. The higher the better, because low Int prevents a mage from learning high level spells. You need Int 18 to learn lvl 9 spells. There is an Int table showing the exact requirement for each spell level - it should be in your manual, which is in .pdf format on your disc.

Intelligence, for example, sets an upper bound for the level of spells a mage can use. You need an intelligence of at least 12 to cast 6th level spells.

Thanks for the help guys (again). I feel like I should buy you'll cookies or something. Usually when I create a character, I go single class and with the first roll. I've tried reading the manuals, but the dex and con and wis descriptions get confusing after awhile. I figured Luz' inability with spells was because of something like that. Thankx.
