Unhappy Help! ObjCreature.cpp problems

Sometimes when my party is attacked, IWD either shuts down giving me the following error: "An assertion failed in ObjCreature.cpp at line ...", or the pc freezes and I need to reboot. I am only using the characters that came with the game. I have the latest patch, and a relatively fast pc (450MHz, 128MB ram, Matrox 400, etc.). What's going on?

Cheers

Yeesh, sounds nasty. What creatures are attacking when it shuts down - same ones every time?

May be just a corrupted file - try re-installing?

Cheers mate. Good advice, but either seem to work. Reinstalling didn't solve the problem. It all started during this massive attack at the cult's headquarters in Dragon's Eye (nice place to crash!). From then on, IWD keeps on crashing "randomly" during attacks. If however, during the battle, I move my view away from the action (i.e. I have another place of the map on-screen), things seem to go well (so far). As if the program cannot draw the creatures properly (!).

Anyway, thanks for your help.

Ta

That's what I was suggesting. Sounds like there's a creacture animation problem - specific creatures or any type?

Good luck.

Thumbs up

I'll keep an eye on that, and if I notice a pattern I'll let you (all) know.

Once again cheers for the help

Try going into your IWD config and activate Sprite Mirroring. This will load only half of the creature animation. Good luck...

Your pc spec should be able to handle the creature anims though. When you installed did you get any error messages?

No, no error messages. The problem seemed to had been mysteriously rectified, up until yesterday, when during moving a member of my party a level up, it crashed again with the same message. The funny thing is that when I moved my party to another area and tried again, it all went fine!

It's all AI to me, but I will ignore it and try to finish the game (almost there). I have started seeing it as part of the excitement.

Cheers for your help.
