Experience question:

I know the cap is set at 8 million, and I'm also told that a 6 person party probably won't come near that number on normal difficulty.

My question is this: about how much XP will you have with a 6 man party on normal difficulty? Enough for a multiclassed mage to get 9th level spells? What about a multiclassed cleric and 7th level spells?

Somebody here much have a savegame near the end completed on normal difficulty...

For Icewind Dale, you'll get close to 1.2 million exp points but will be a bit short. I do have at least two saved games at the end, though I don't why you would need them. Bear in mind that you have the 'Heart of Fury' difficulty which gives more experience than normal difficulty. You also have the Heart of Winter(and hopefully the free Trials of the Luremaster) expansion which should add enough experience for at least a few more levels.

Heart of Fury is meant for people who think the game is too easy. What it does is pump up enemies stats (and exp too) to the point where they become tanks. Ex: All creatures have x3, +80 hit points. A creature with 20 hit points in regular mode would have 20x3 = 60, 60+80 = 140 hit points.

Your summoned monsters get the same bonuses as all the other monsters, making summoning spells even MORE powerful in HoF mode.

The amount of EXP you get from monsters goes up with the difficulty. At HARD you get 150% normal, at INSANE you get 200% normal. In HoF you get more than that(perhaps 250% since it scales by 50%).

Yeah, I've got all the expansions. I just wanted to know (roughly) how much XP the party will get over the course of the entire game.

I have a FMT in my game, and want to know if he'll ever catch the Bard in spellcasting ability.

I finished IwD+HoW+TotL at normal difficulty with slightly more than 2,500,000 XP for each of my party members.
You get more XP if you play an easier or harder level.
It's easy to get even more than 22,500,000 XP for each party member by killing respawning monsters.
HoW has a level cap(level 30), XP counting is stopped at 8,000,000. You can have a level 30/30/30 FMT.
