Dual Class

What are the restrictions on dual classing a character? I have a human thief at level 5 and my intention was to dual her as a mage.
When I try to do so, all the options for dualling are shaded out.
I seem to remember there are certain requirments, but I can`t find out what they are.
Help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Davfra

To dual, your thief must be human, at least level 2, have at least 15 in her primary stat (DEX, in her case), and 17 in the primary stats of the class to which she's dualing. (17 INT for a mage, plus 17 in the stat required for a specialist mage - 17 for an enchanter, etc.) Hope this helps!
