Could someone do me a tiny favor?

I recently bought a used copy of Icewind Dale and it freezes up when i get to a certain spot. I was wondering if one of you could please go through the game, and save it just after the point where mine freezes.

It stops right after i complete the Vale of Shadows section. I kill Lysia or whatever her name is, the ice maiden girl. When i go to the bottom of the crypt and speak to the Ghost, i forget his name, he is about to tell me who is causing the problems and give me what is in his coffin. It freezes halfway through his speech. Could one of you PLEASE play though and save the game just after this point and send it to me so i can keep playing. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

Did you download the latest game patch and install it?

no, i haven't. But i know my cd has a nasty scratch on it. Where would i find the latest patch? i am using a Mac

I believe the issue is, as you already stated, the cd. If patches doesn't help, then you could try to reinstall the game. If that neither helps, then it's the cd.

If that's the case, I suggest that you buy new one, in case you still want to play it. This is because even though you may get a save past to the current problem section, there is no way to tell what else is corrupted. Also, with asking people to play the game to the point, you either don't get the party what you would prefer, or at the very least not developed in a way you would have prefered.

EDIT:
Oh, and here you can download patches... though I'm not 100% sure if the patches are same both for Win and Mac...

I have already developed my characters, and it would not be a problem for me to load them into the saved game. I really don't want to have to buy another copy of the game if i don't have to. It doesn't take long to get to the point i described. I could even send someone a character with all of the keys to make it even quicker. Please, i'm dying to play this game.
