| | | Buy it? Ok, I have all the Baldurs Gate games and have beaten them numerous times. So I was wondering if the Icewind Dale series would be the next thing to buy. The only problem is that I've heard mixed reviews for it. So I was wondering if you guys could give some feedback on what you thought of the game(s) to help my decision. Thanks! |

| | | It's more of a hack 'n slash DnD game, but the story is good (although completely linear). The graphics are IMO much better then in BG and BG2...same with the music.
I really enjoyed IWD.

| | | it's alright, but horribly linear, the plot is not particularly engrossing, and it can get a bit repetetive. that said, it is an excellent dungeon crawl tha you'll probably keep coming back to, so i'd reccomend it if you find it quite cheap.

| | I bought it today. It was kind of a shock after having played ToB for a year or so hehe. My mage died from one arrow. She only has 5 hp.
Still it looks cool when you cast spells, well I can only cast magic missile sleep and armor but anyway.
Should I get the expansion straight away or wait until I have completed the game?

The main reasons for this are the new items in stores that are only there when you start a new game. Also, there are some restrictions added to spellcasters that could be potentially frustrating if you have built up a good spellcaster without the expansion. The above only applies to the HoW expansion, and not the TotLm expansion, but you might as well get the latter when you get the former, as it is a free download. |

| | | The IWD series is really not at all like BG2, once you get beyond the mechanics. I'd suggest that Planescape: Torment is considerably more BG2-ish--in fact, the Bioware team acknowledged how much they learned from PS:T. I enjoyed IWD2 a lot, but I still consider it more of a very linear tactical merc game than a CRPG.
