Flagships official site for the game hellgatelondon.com is to relaunch very soon(should be before E3) and from what I've seen it looks very good so keep an eye out for that.

Well, to be honest, what's so interesting about Hellgate: London? I really can't tell much from looking at demo videos and reading game impressions from gaming sites at that moment.

From the official site (http://www.hellgatelondon.com) it looks like it could be fun - kind of like a cross between an futuristic rpg and doom (at least thats the impression I get).

I don't know. I honestly had a distaste for First Person RPGs like Oblivion and Morrowind. Can't imagine sword fighting in that view. Very hard to fight if you ask me.

I've watched a few of their movies on their official site and it looks like it will be more like Vampire:Bloodlines when it comes to viewpoint. There is one movie clearly showing a sword fighting scene where the view is 3rd Person, then others show it as 1st person for ranged fighting before switching to 3rd person as well.

Vista or XP?

Just received a newsletter from the developers and thought it would be useful to post the 'question of the week' here as it is about system requirements, specifically which Windows platform it will need:

Quote:
From Hellgate Newsletter for July 14 2006:

Question of the Week
Q: Will Vista be required to play Hellgate? What's the deal with all that?

A: Windows Vista will not be required to run Hellgate: London. XP will do just fine. However, people with Windows Vista and a DX10 capable video card will experience a better looking and better performing version of our game, since that specific combination allows for the absolute highest quality visuals. The DX10 version is currently in development, so please be patient if we're not quick with the info. Further details will be forthcoming.

Well, that's good news to quite a lot of people. At least I can stick with Windows XP for quite a while. Can't imagine upgrading to Windows Vista just to play a game. I know this is off-topic but I wonder when will Halo 2 for the PC be able to run on Windows XP instead of being a Vista exclusive?

There is a Q&A article on Gamespot regarding Hellgate: London. It is discussing about the multiplayer aspect of the game. The title of the article is Q&A: Bill Roper opens up about Hellgate: London. Found this article while browsing both Blue's News and Gamespot two days ago.
