Hellgate background

Hello,

Seeing the intro, and reading some conversations, I found the background in the manual lacking. I went online and came up with this: GameSpy: The World of Hellgate: London
Where did they get this info? Is there some kind of backgroundstory on the DVD that I've missed? The official site has hardly any info, and I can't get logged on to the fora there.
The game feels like it has a rich background and setting, but I can't find any info about it.
Someone around here who knows what I'm missing?
