| | | First Impressions Hi guys,
Well, i brought the game on Friday to see how good it really was. And my first impressions are this. 1: it is so much fun, it's not true. 2: The randomly generated maps are cool, and random loot is fun too, same for the minigame. One example is my latest game as a summoner, where i got a good blue torso armour in tottenham court road. 3: Variety of classes and styles of play. So overall my first impression is that it is fun, even though my pc shouldn't be able to run it, i only have 512mb of RAM after all. So what does everybody else think of it?

| | | I got it yesterday, It is a very fun game.
Loving Blademaster and Marksman, so much fun just rushing into a bunch of mobs and slashing away. Marksman has unlimited Grenades, nothing like bouncing them around corners into groups of zombies and watching them run around on fire.
The best part is being able to do something with all that loot that's too good to sell but nobody ever wants.
Dismantling is probably the best thing ever.
I made a few nice Legendaries from it.
I haven't subscribed yet, as I haven't completed the game.
But when I do, I am definitely going to.
Elite mode is going to be fun. |

| | I bought it, even though I said I wouldn't, 'cause I was mad at the terms and conditions/spyware. It is a very fun game. People will bash the RPG elements as being too light, but I love them - I'm sick of feeling like I'm part of an interactive, linear movie (Jade Empire springs to mind). The randomization is great, the replayability is great, and they genuinely made it a different play experience depending on your class. I love the item building/modification system too. |

| | | Small critic Hello, I must say I also like the gameplay and have a lot of fun with it, but some of the RPG points require some improvement I believe. Like 60% of the skills for most of characters are pretty much useless although skill points are very hard to earn and you expect to invest them in something. The loot itself is nice with randomization and epic/rare bosses the only thing I can criticize is the item graphics which seems pretty common for me ( maybe I'm just playing it for few days and can't yet distinguish the items that better but still it seems bit boring looks ) Can someone say if you can play as elite character once you finish the game in single play or this will be only a subscription option ?

| | Great Game people! But has sooo many flaws
unlike some, I love an intense story-line and cinematics do play a vital role for me in games.
"I'm sick of feeling like I'm part of an interactive, linear movie (Jade Empire springs to mind)"
But I'll get to that later...
Anyway, first impression...
I thought it was awful , really to tell the truth I didn't like it much, but that was just the beginning, Music and Story really isn't this games strong points, and I could point out a ton of other things too, but I won't.
Basically, this game gets better the more you play it.
If You're a power addict, A MUST HAVE!
As you gain level. and become powerful, you get the feel like nothing can stop you, and the random item thing does RULE!
Only thing I really disagree with, is the Random Levels, they really aren't that random, mostly every place looks the same...
Example: Every sewer looks like the one before it, Every tunnel, every Street... every building... sure they are placed differently and it's different paths you must follow... but basically the same.
I agree with most magazines, this game is good, but it could've been Great

| | I'm one of those players who need a game to be deep. It has to have a good storyline and immerse me. I'm thinking this game probably won't although it looks interesting. It's been compared to diablo in the past and despite finding the Diablo games quite fun there certainly weren't deep and didn't hold my interest too long. MP will be a big factor of this game and MP not of that much interest to me. I quite enjoy co-op games but single player games are more my thing just because of the storyline etc. I'll keep an eye on this though and might give it a try when it is a lot cheaper |

| | Against my better judgement I decided to get it after finding it fairly cheap on ebay. Hope it's entertaining enough although I know it's not going to be a particularly deep experience |

| Which game doesn't have flaws?
I recall you are playing NWN2. That game has significantly more flaws than Hellgate.

| | Well despite this not being the sort of game that usually piques my interest I have to agree that it is rather fun. It's a game I would eventually get bored of but at the moment I'm rather enjoying the mindless action
Anyone played MP yet? I had a quick look and was happy that you are playing on an active server so can play the game at your leisure and join with who you want as you go rather than sitting in a Lobby looking for similar minded players. |

| | I have been playing the game for about two or three weeks and the game is fun at first but it eventually becomes repetitive. The most obvious repetitiveness are the areas. Sure they're randomly generated but the tiles/textures are the same. What also seems the same is the layout of some of the areas. The downtown city areas and underground railways all seem to have a very similar layout to each other. Also, the monsters don't seem to be distributed all the well. Certain varieties of monsters aren't seen as frequently as others.
As for the story, it's not that compelling or interesting.
Oh yeah! The weapon mods/upgrades are great, but I don't understand why mods for various guns/rifles/rocket launchers etc... would have a willpower requirement. The primary attribute for a marksman is accuracy and I can understand that strength is important too when it comes to wearing heavier armor or carrying heaving weapons but why willpower? It seems like a cheap method to prevent players from uber-modding their weapons.
Finally, skills: I've been playing a marksman and they have a good selection of skills but I disagree with the in-game hints about having a variety of skills. I think specialization is the key. I recommend specializing in two or three skills trees otherwise you'll be spreading yourself too thin.
all in all, it's still a fun game.

| | | i liked it but it got repetitive...Go to this place kill XYZ and NO ONE likes to group, chat channels are barren, and content like auction house, and cities are gonna be subscriber only... I agree with the other content having to be paid for but that stuff is just ridiculous...
And it just got boring when a train loaded in some map blocking the exit to the mission (the mission was really...really... long). Also, try fighting a thunderstruck regenerating guy. Regeneration heals all health, im in a tight quarter and it uses thunderstrike to kill my droids everytime i summon them. On top of that its lord nyssaylor first and then emperor gulkar. When you make a new character, they dont have access to the better guns...
Oh and in the museum, somehow i spawned 4 emperor gulkars from the statues and 3 fiend masters. I died SO much |

| | | It is more or less what should be expected of Hellgate. After all, it is more or less a hack n' slash game. So, the repetitiveness should be expected, very much like Diablo.

I've bought several 360 games that were so hyped up that after I bought them I was disspointed even though I enjoyed them because of the hype surrounding them. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
