| | | Would you prefer it if users did not have a post count in the GB forums? This topic has been discussed several times over the years, and has recently been brought up for evaluation by our members. Therefore, I'm posting this poll to determine which course of action the majority of our visitors would like to see. It will only be open for two weeks, so please vote as soon as you can.
Keep in mind that if you vote "Yes" to this poll, it would require that I install a hack here in the forums to remove the post count feature. I don't necessarily mind doing this, but it does require some extra work and may have a few drawbacks in the long-term. Even with the hack installed, all post counts would still be calculated, but nobody except the original poster, moderators, and administrators would be able to see them.
Vote away! |

| | | Like I tried to bring up in the discussion thread, is there any way to give each member the right to view or hide post counts (Not just his own, but everyones) while he is viewing, but still have others be able to see them. While I dont care either way, I think it would be nice to reach some sort of a compromise in this situation. |

| | | I voted yes. I see no valid reasons what so ever to keep post count in a forum such as GameBanshee. |

| | | I vote no. Removing post counts does not bring any benefits and potentially causes instability to the forum software. |

However, unless you're a moderator or administrator, you won't be able to see anyone else's. I've edited my post above to reflect this. |

| | | I didn't vote since I was looking for a 'Doesn't matter' option. I really wouldn't be put out if it continued as-is or if it changed. Either way is fine with me. |

| | | I ended up voting no because I dont really care either way, and the part about not installing a potentially dangerous hack swung me to the no. (Call me paranoid)
Buck, I was more lookng for the option that each individual user could have as to wether or not they see post counts while they are viewing, sort of in the same way we can turn off sigs and avs. |

| | | Those with the high post counts seem to want to show them off lol
I vote we should remove post count because people seem to judge people on their post counts. Like low post count = nubcake and high post count = someone who has way to much time and they seem to like to read their own words.
I really don't care either way though. |

| | | As mentioned by others, I used post count to see if someone is new or not, but I mostly judge on their posts. I voted yes, because I can still check that by looking through their previous posts anyway. |

| | | I voted yes because it would be good to get a final solution to the post farming issues and also I am strongly against that people use the postcount to judge our members.

| | | I have never thought much about the post count. As some previous forums that i visited had some useless posts in them due to the post increase-don't see that here-then i would still vote for delete them.
It saddens me when i think people are judged by their post count...
Also, taking it off would clearly lower some peoples urge to post insignificant posts.

| | So, does it mean, "Yes, we would prefer that users did not have a post count in the GB forums"? Which answer has the higher value? I'm a little confused the way the question was stated, which is actually an improvement, in some ways, since I'm often very confused.

| | I agree, the question could have been worded in a clearer manner...it actually seemed a bit biased to me.
I voted to keep the postcount, as determined post farmers wouldn't care whether they can see a number or not.
I don't care what number my postcount is at, but I think it helps in accommodating the newer people to an extent. |

Ravager is right, IMO, determination is everything.
