As I understand it, the question is as stated in the thread name: Would you prefer it if users did not have a post count in the GB forums?

Yes I would or No I wouldn't.

Anyway Fable, your confusion does not come close to Hill's:

Are you hallucinating again? Who said anything about post count being viewable from profiles? Buck wrote above that nobody except the original poster, moderators, and administrators would be able to see them..

EDIT: added smiley

I had to read it a couple of times to be absolutely sure I was voting correctly. IMO, the question should be reworded to something like 'What is your stance on users being able to see postcounts?

Yes, they should be able to
No, they shouldn't be able to'

Otherwise, you're already leading them twords the bias of not wanting a postcount or confusing them, even if it is for a short while and even if they have a clear intention of which side of the fence they lie before they vote.

Or perhaps that is what he means?
Rather than hallucinating... (which is a bit harsh, by the way...)

English IS not my first language, but personally I don't see why the question

"Would you prefer it if users did not have a post count in the GB forums?" Yes/No

would be either biased or confusing.

Why would the phrase "nobody except the original poster, moderators, and administrators would be able to see them" mean "except in the profile, where anyone could see it"? It says nothing about profiles. However, should the postcount still be visible for everyone in the profiles, I must change my vote since I think it's meaningless to remove postcount if it's that easy to see it elsewhee.

Btw, the hallucination thing is an internal joke to Hill because he and I has a history of misreading posts due to sleep deprivation...Don't worry, I have now added a smiley in order for you not to believe it is an insult.

I think Buck's post is clear enough: only mods & the administrator will be able to see other people's post count. You will be able to see your own post count though.

And though the phrasing is understandable, it might be considered slightly biased in favour of hiding the post count.

I don't swing either way, but I'm willing to sell my vote if the going gets tight.

One of the reasons I typically make short, concise answers available in the GameBanshee Polls forum is because of the small amount of space (less than 150 pixels in width) available for the poll on GameBanshee's homepage. If I had used your example above, each answer would have ended up hitting a page break and the percentage bar ends up getting a little skewed too. Granted, it would look absolutely fine when viewing the poll from here in the forum, but I have to consider both areas. I suppose I could change the answers to "Yes, I would" or "No, I wouldn't", but the point seems to be getting across without having to edit them.

I really didn't intend for the question to sound biased, so I hope that it doesn't give that impression. I don't really have an opinion on the subject, so it wouldn't do me any good to favor one answer or another anyway .

I mentioned before I couldn't care either way, as I honestly don't believe the lack of post counts will change how people post. As there isn't a "Does not care" option, I figured I'd just point that out here again in a post, just in case there is a need for how many people who are in-between the two vote selections.

I wish i would have understood that I could still view mine when I voted, because I would have voted yes (voted no). Oh well.

Since I added the information about the hack after the poll was live, I'd be willing to change your vote for you. Just to be sure, you voted "No!", but would like it changed to "Yes!", correct?

That is correct. "No!" is in italics for me when I view this. Thank You.

Vote changed. Keep in mind that this will only be reflected in the totals. "No!" will still show in italics like you selected it. I don't think there's any way for me to fully reset your vote.

I voted "No" because it has never seemed like a big deal to me and isn't worth the effort of installing the hack and such. I'm sure you have other things to worry about Buck.

No, a hack isn't needed.

It would potentially harm the site with coding and all, and nothing beneficial will come out of it anyways.

I voted yes only because when I started posting on the internet I looked at the people with a lot of posts with a lot of respect. But now I know it does not really matter because some people with a lot of post, post a lot of really stupid things. (Not talking about anyone on this site.) So even though I voted yes I think it would be cool if you could hide the amount of post you have posted. It should be the posters individual choice.

I think me that you got the options confused.

And now I think me that I misread your post.

Same here when I first joined. Was wondering how they get such high post counts at first. Now, I guess that a sizeable number of them with high post counts usually hang around at the Speak Your Mind section.

I think only some, I guess. There are others with high post counts who have been here for a long time and don't post idiotic things.
