| | | Bard's Tale would be consistent with the type of RPG that I normally associate with Gamebanshee. Though, from what I gather, its not a horribly nuanced game.
Personally, I'd like to see more of the JRPGs covered. While I tend to prefer the darker RPGs, certain titles such as the FF, DW are staples of the RPG market. Personally, I find the Suikoden titles a bit on the darker side for JRPGs. I'd be interested in seeing them covered. However, these things may be beyond the scope of the site. |

| | | I went for bards tale..but if any one is interest i could do a walkthrough for the eye of the beholder 1,2,3.I have played them quite a number of times, drew quite
detailed maps (well more so for the first one), started making the maps and discriptions and uploading them to my web site(free site).got about 3/4 done of the maps, most of the monsters in jpeg format, but then had kids and no time to carry on,site went down. Now things have slowed down i have more time.
On the plus side i still like to play them.

| | I am surprised to see Suikoden is actually known in this community (bar Aegis and probably Kid).
I can take on the series if Buck decides to include them to GB, because they are the only game I am currently interested in, as long as;
-taking long time (I have to finish my thesis at the same time!)
-start from 4+Tactics (that's I have been playing past few months) followed by 5
-1&2 would be on PSP version which will come out in 23 Feb (same as 5) in Japan.
(Just want to pay back something to this site where I have had great time for past 5 years )

| | I voted System Shock 2... imo, a benchmark in gaming history:
1. One of the best (and first?) examples of a game blurring the lines between game genres (rpg & shooter).
2. One of the best examples of a game allowing for multiple ways to accomplish an objective, based on (role-) playing your selected skills. The walkthroughs I've found most useful and interesting are for games such as this.
3. Being akin to 30-Hour-Long shooters, it may not be as hard to produce a well-rounded walkthrough.
I loved this game for many more reasons (atmosphere, story, etc), but these are my reasons for inducting this particular title to the Banshee Network's "Hall of Fame".
I almost voted for Ultima. I recently perused walkthroughs for some of the older ones... a trip down memory lane.
But I couldn't image trying to get one of the older (and best) ones to run on Windows XP. And which one(s) would you do? All of them would be quite the undertaking...

The Bard's Tale (the newest, I have, to my knowledge, all of them, but I had to use my newest disk to play them all) was very, very linear. In fact, I heard that the game can take as little as 16 hours to play with all the little side quests, not first hand, as I did not have the time to [play it throughly. Walkthroughs for it are typically short, but none the less helpful, if caught in a spot where it is not totally obvious what the hell your doing.
Lately I have played few games... I relented and actually bought Baldur's Gate 2 instead of borrowing it, an example of how far behind I am. The games I play now are strategy (Including, yes, SW: Armada & Sequel), city building (I own the entire Sierra series), and games with RPGish elements... Gladius, Shadow Hearts: Covenant, Summoner: A Goddess Reborn (forcibly, not by choice...), and many games similar to these.
Looking at lists of some console RPGs, many still available for PCs, those games left are, from what I have seen, are falling slowly from the top of console player's gaming piles. Not that it is consistent, but the only console game I can think of coming out right now is Mass Effect, Xbox 360 exclusive, and if there were some newer gaming opportunities coming out for the console, I would throw myself behind that right now. Looking at the console RPGs out there, many starting to age, it looks like the console exclusive industry itself is peaking.
Hey, though, who am I but an unknowing consumer in all this? Some past games still may have people interested, most definitely being series like FF.
I'll help where ever I can.

Actually, in my opinion, it seems like there are far more RPGs coming out for consoles than the PC. I've encountered very few decent PC RPGs in the past year that weren't hack and slash (and looking to the future, I only see a couple truly promising titles). On the other hand, we have a large number of console RPGs appearing in the present for the Playstation 2 (a platform that is on its way out, in theory). Recent released or soon to come games include a a new Dragon Quest VIII, Suikoden V, Wild Arms 4, Wild Arms: Alter Code F, Grandia 3, Final Fantasy XII, Shining Force Neo, to just name the ones that immediately come to mind. Certainly, as Aegis would remind us, the X-Box has not be as vigorous of an RPG tool as the PS2 (mainly because Sony has secured most of the JRPG business), but we're even seeing some movement on the X-Box 360 front to secure more console exclusive RPGs. Beyond Mass Effect and Jade Empire 2 (which are in the works), I know Buck posted a news piece some months ago which reported that X-Box had commissioned one of the FF big-whigs to do some 360 games. I imagine if we see a Fable 2, it will capitalize on that platform as well. |

I imagine if we see a Fable 2, it will capitalize on that platform as well. | I was merely stating that though console gaming is large, and that many titles would be interesting to incoorporate, that there is not a lot of growth too much between either the PC or the console, from my point of view, compared to many genres.
The majority of games coming out for the console at the moment are sequels, not exactly showing a marked increase in new RPGs this year. The Xbox 360 is going to support Mass Effect exclusively and Oblvion. There has been no mention of Jade Empire 2.
2 RPGs, one of them for PC, is not exactly console exclusive from the Xbox 360 perspective, aye? If there are any others, I have no heard of them... and PS2/Gamecube seem to be putting out the same amount as last year. When I said peaking, it does not state whether or not it would plateau this year, or drop. I merely mentioned that not many new RPG titles are coming out that I have heard from.
Hey, prove me wrong, I enjoy learning, and for all I know am entirely wrong. Although I think any further debate should be taken to the PMs or another forum so as to not clutter this thread asking for names up overmuch.

Honestly, though, I thought we should go for "The Bard's Tale." We've covered Fable, so why not this game as well?

| | I voted Gothic 1 + 2, since I really enjoyed the first game and I have number two sitting on my desk awaiting my attentions some day. Gothic 3 is just around the corner, if only they could sort out some decent English distribution
Other than that I would have cast my vote for the Ultimas, since they're still a regular choice of game, and it'd be nice to have a resource for them (I'd be up for helping with Ultima VII ) |

| | | Voted Bards Tale, although I doubt there is enough substance in that game to actually write a walkthrough being very liniar, and not really difficult, at least to the part I managed to get to.
However, it might encourage me to actually finish the game, because it is rather funny. |

| | | Unless I am mistaken, I have not seen a single thing about Guild Wars. Is there a reason for this or not? That would be one that would be nice to see on the forums.
