Heh. I expect he'll contact the various RPG game sites and pass along the word when and if the game releases, but the response is likely to disappoint him--and convince Cleve all the more that he's really the elite, and most people are just peasants. Which is pretty much par for the course.

So, because it's going to hard as hell, it's a good game, according to the designer?

There is a group of players in all genres who have what we might call a "macho mystique." For some reason unknown to modern science, they think that pushing around pixels, faster or better, with the aid of a mouse, makes them great warriors or thinkers, or both. There was definitely an element of that in the older Wizardry titles, though they weren't impossible, by any means: but they were tough. And from the last beta I saw of Grimoire, I'd have to say it was less forgiving than any of the Wizardry series. I also remember Cleve stating in his forum at the time that he wasn't about to dumb things down for anybody--so make of that what you will. I do think the RPGer who prides themselves on figuring out the hardest puzzles, doing ironman games (no reloads because of death), and setting difficulty levels automatically for maximum--and boasting to others about it--will probably be most happy with this.

But to be fair to Cleve, Griomoire is also a cleverly designed game, with lots of skills and stats, interesting character types to add to your group, well-written quests and NPCs, and attractive locations.

It's just...the regular death thing and nearly impossible to find clues might annoy some people.

Looking forward to AoD myself.

I am also very curious at what Dragon Age will be like, assuming we even see it in 2008. It will be interesting to see if EA ends up botching the title, or if it actually lives up to the promise it seemed to have when first announced.
Can't say I'm optimistic, exactly, but we'll see I suppose.

I am also looking forward to Dragon Age. In fact it is the game I voted for in last year's poll! But I did not knew about AoD back then.

I am also very interested in The Witcher's Special Edition and The Broken Hourglass. But it does not look like we will see the later in 2008.

As long as one of your parents lets you buy (i.e. Buy the game for you) the game, it's legal to get it. At least, it is here.

mass effect; I've read some positive reviews about the Xbox 360 version, so I'm eager to get my hands on the pc version (since I'm not a gameconsole fan )

Vote went to Dragon Age. But Mass effect and the witcher enhanced edition were close to getting my vote.

I am probably the only one who voted for Two Worlds: Temptation.

I do this because A) I think Two Worlds was hard done by, and B) Because they are putting Two Worlds right in a way that could teach other publishers how to support gamers by listening and then responding. Bethesda et al will roll on regardless of how crappy their games are, because they will still sell. Smaller publishers really have to get things right or gamers and the media dump on them relentlessly and sales suffer.

In other words, Two Worlds Temptation has more risk attached to it for it's developers/publishers than any of the others - and that's why this title gets my respect and gets my vote.

So many of these games look great. I'm looking forward to Dragon Age, as I am a fan of a lot of Bioware's other games, Mass Effect PC for the same reason (I'll be getting it soon ), and Sacred 2, as I liked the original. Space Siege looks like it might achieve something somewhat unique, so I'll keep an eye on it, at least, and I don't know much about Fable 2, but Fable was fairly fun, so I'll keep an eye on that too.

But my vote goes for Fallout 3, mostly because that's the game I am currently in the mood for. A few weeks ago, and perhaps again in a few weeks, my answer would be one of the above, but currently I have been struck with a sudden urge to play Fallout 3. You know, now. If only.

In my opinion there are not enough RPG/FPS hybrids out there, and barely any good ones. I just hope they don't screw this one up. So, yeah...Fallout 3, rock please, thankyouverymuch.
