Which RPG would you prefer we covered next?

While we still have plenty of work to do for the current RPGs we cover, we've started looking at the not-too-distant future. So... which of these titles (or series of titles) would you like to see us cover next?

If you choose "Other," please specify which game(s) you'd like to see added to our network.

I voted for Anachronox mainly because it's a game I thoroughly enjoyed, despite some of it's flaws, that gets no attention anymore. How often do you hear about it? As a fan a site would be great, IMHO, to spread the word about a solid game very few know about.

I think the addition of some console RPG walkthroughs would definitly help bolster traffic to the site, as well retain even further traffic. Covering the PC RPGs is great, as so few sites have as comprehensive a listing as GB does (I would even venture we have the best), but nothing has really been done to attract the console gamers.

Just a thought, though.

Actually, at least 15 of the games featured on our network have been (or will be) console titles and there will be plenty of Xbox 360 and PS3 RPGs added in the future, I'm sure. The only console games I've really strayed away from are JRPGs, and that's only due to personal interest (though I really liked the first few FF and DW titles). There are older console games I'd love to add, but I think there would be far less of an audience for, say, Shadowrun on the SNES than there would be for a 10-year-old PC game.

Allow me to make a slight change then. I was meaning more along the lines of purely Console RPG's. There is a load of decent console RPG's coming out (of which, many I would say look far more promising than half the PC stuff coming out these days. Oblivian included. Yeah, it is pretty. I get it). By including a couple console specific RPG's, it would be a whole new audience of traffic.

It's always something we could consider. Aside from the exceptions I mentioned above, are there any examples you can give me?

Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Vandal Hearts, Radiata Stories, Star Ocean (1-3), Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Suikoden(1-4), Final Fantasy Tactics, Super Mario RPG, La Pucelle Tactics, Romancing Saga.

The list could go on. Granted, most of those are the JRPG's, but then, most console specific RPG's are JRPG's.

Then, of course, there is always the bulk of the Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior games.

I voted other, mainly because of chrono trigger and Dragon Warriors, i still play both form time to time when i can dig them out, never actaully beat either of them, im a purely console gamer, except for RTS games, WarCraft, AOE, Red Alert, the only non rts game i play(ed) on computer was Jedi Knights Dark Forces II, bought it for about 10 dollars at local EB, havent played since, but i digress, all games I play are on console, the only RPG's I play nowadays, being Kotor 2 and TES 3, how ever I am looking forward to Oblivion, Mass Effect, and a few others for the 360, while these already have their forums, what about the older RPG's? i agree with aegis, Chrono Trigger, the old Zelda games, any of the sony or sega titles i never played, Shen Mue is something that comes to mind, dont remmeber what it was but im tihnking RPG.

I was a lot younger when I first enjoyed Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy, and Zelda, and now many of them look and feel too "kiddish" or "cutesy" to me (for lack of better terms...). I guess I just prefer the darker themes in games like Baldur's Gate, Diablo, Vampire: Bloodlines, or even Champions of Norrath.

I'm certainly not opposed to covering the games you listed above, but considering it can take hundreds of hours of dedication to cover one game, I'd much rather spend the time playing a game I thoroughly enjoy. Now, if someone wanted to do the leg work and contribute walkthroughs and databases for these game, that's a totally different story. Any takers?

I could help someone compile a walkthrough for chrono trigger, seeing as im playing through it again, i love the oldies what can is say?, but it owuld have to wait till summer when schools out and ic an devote more time to actaully playing through it well enough to (co) write a walkthrough, dragon warriors 1,2,&3 for my gameboy are long gone in the deep abyss of my room, and the old zelda titles, well itll take a little while for the snes version, and the N64 ones, I lsot some cords for the machine and cant play.

Summary: Sure, with help, this summer, mostly chrono trigger, maybe SUper Mario RPG.

I'd like to see comprehensive guide's of the older games like Ultima's or some of the gold box titles. But the odds are that they might end up recieving rather minimal attention. So i guess it all boils down to mr. author's personal love for the games and the need of more webtraffic.

Aegis has a good point on the jRPGs, though. There seems to be huge dedicated crowd for these games, and adding coverage of these games might make the site attract much more attention. Personally though, i'm also pretty much shooed off by the cute marshmallow monsters and some utterly annoying cliches i dont find none too immersive.

Voted for the Ultima's. If a miracle happens, and you decide to tackle them (or some other older PC RPG's), i'd love to contribute. I think i still got stuff like that pretty thorough U6 guidebook gathering dust somewhere in here.

I LOVED Secret of Evermore, but few play it anymore.

I'd offer to write a walkthrough for it, but my SNES is broken. *sobs over the loss of a dear childhood friend*

Funny, you say that, because the one thing Japanese game players often mention regarding "foreign" RPG is "They are too dark".

If you, and other members here, are interested, I can pick up some information regarding JRPG for GB from Japanese information sites.
To be honest, I am currently more interested in JRPG on PS2/PSP, and checking Japanese information sites more frequently than English (language of, that is) sites these days anyway.

PS. I am going back to Japan in Febrary-March (and get the new Suikoden series--I don't know when or if it will be published in other countries), and if there's interests amongst you for other JRPG published in Japan, I might get them for some info here. Just let me know.

I'm adding my vote t the idea of a Final Fantasy walkthrough (any of the games in the series) or the Bard's Tale (the latest one).

If FF is added, I can take FF8, since I own it. Okay, I own computer-version, but Isn't it actually the very same game, you just use your keyboard.
Of course, since I'm leaving to army very soon (few days to go), I could fully concentrate to FF8 when I've got out, and that will happen either after 9 or 12 months. But after that, I'm at your service if needed.
