It seems that the game was simplified in stead of made bigger and more complex. Also, I don't like the awkward invententory management.
agreed, but i voted terrible

I would rate The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion as an three out of five. The reason is because of good graphics, and the detail added to the game using the Radiant AI. The way they modified the armour is ok, but they almost look the same to me. And there is no altering of the main storyline ending. And not enough empahsis on any cutscenes or cinematics save for the begining and ending. So I gave three stars for the Radiant AI and the physics.

Well, I'll rate it a masterpiece due to thefact that it has one of the best gameplays I've ever experienced in an RPG before. Though the armor and weapons might be quite mundane, the quests and countless vistas the game opens up to the player really makes it excellent.

Interesting would be an understatement here.

i picked up this game recently (yes im slow, i know)

my expression of this game went from excellent to awful.. the graphics are excellent, gameplay is suberb, the inventory/journal/menu is easy to use, its good AI, decent challanges here and there. i thought that this was THE game

BUT

as i played for some hours, i discover the leveling system, which is (imo) very VERY bad.. the whole world scales with your level. that means that you can actually complete most of the game on lvl 1, as the monsters havent scaled with you. if you level to fast, the monsters will become far to challanging.

i picked the barbarian class for my first character. I use only combat skills, and restoration. as all my combat skills are "major skills", i tend to level VERY fast, and i get quite few multipliers to stats each time i level. this makes the monsters very tough, especially when fighting multiple opponents. pffff.....

another thing, is that loot/rewards also scales with your level. one thing i enjoy where much with RPG games, is that if you got skill and patience enough the beat the superzomghard encounter while on a low lvl, you get rewarded with items which is very good for your level. in this game you cant do that, since even if you run through an endless cave, to find the badass necromancer in the end, and you actually kill him (which is not way to hard), you are rewarded with a steel dagger, since you are such low level... very nice reward considering the effort you put into it.

with the quest rewards this is also the case. really good fun completing a long quest and get crap rewards since you are low level.

overall, my first impression of the game was very very good, but then, as i learned the leveling system, i put the game away and picked up planescape: torment again

I voted "very bad". Maybe I could go for "average", too, but I wanted to express my disappointment this way... I expected it to be much better!
At first I thought it was very good, cause the graphics and gameplay are fine, but as I kept playing (I've played about 400 hours so far) more and more things-happening-in-the-game were getting on my nerves... I could make a very big list of things I hated about this game, but to sum it up, the game has major flaws in crucial areas for an RPG. And seeing the game as a unity, and not just a "collection" of parts, I think "very bad" is the best suited expresion for this game.

(I'm taking a break from Oblivion right now)

(ps: how could someone say it's better than BG(2)!?!)
