IGN PC has published a two-page interview with Sigil Games' Brad McQuaid and Jeff Butler, in which the EverQuest veterans talk about their next MMORPG, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. Here's a bit to start you off:
Q: What are the advantages gained in this way of dealing with classes compared to how most MMOs have operated in the past?

A: Vanguard is a group-based game. One of the biggest hurdles to group-based content in MMOs past has been that, invariably, some class was always the ideal Tank, Healer, etc. This was further compounded by the steady stream of content that required the use of a few specific classes. This can make finding a group very frustrating. Sure you can take the Shaman into your group, but you will likely die because he does not heal as well as the Cleric.

Vanguard classes are derived using the Jobs as a foundation. All classes will perform their primary role as well as another class within the same job. All protective fighters will tank with the same prowess. All healers will heal with the same skill, etc. This eliminates the main frustration that players deal with when forming groups.
