| | Unconfirmed: The Witcher Sequel on Consoles Industry blogger Surfer Girl reinforces previous rumors by claiming that CD Projekt RED's next installment in The Witcher franchise will be "hitting consoles." No surprise here, really. As long as a PC version is released simultaneously, I have no qualms with the game being available on multiple platforms. |

| Ditto here.
Maybe releasing "The Witcher" for multiple platforms will even raise the bar for current standards of console games .. Hey... we can hope can't we?

| | | Well I've never heard of a PC game being 'smarted-up' for a console release.

I do know that Call of Duty 2 was ported from the PC to XBox 360 followed by certain strategy titles like C&C: Red Alert, C&C 3: Tiberium Wars and World in Conflict to name a few. The ported strategy titles didn't do well on the consoles, though.

If I read it right that is - otherwise, it is also my opinion/experience.
I do not mind dual development, as long as the PC interface or game play does not suffer based on it. |

| | Well, there's two problems with cross-platform developing.
One is the interface, which a competent studio can fix if they're professional about it. See 2K Boston having 2K Australia work exclusively on the port (I think it was Australia)
But the second is the market perception. Now I - personally - believe the mass market doesn't magically become dumber or smarter when you switch from console to PC. The days when consoles were just for kids have been busted up, mostly thanks to Sega and Sony. But marketing specialists and PR from the companies seems adamantly convinced that Xbox consumers can't handle anything more complex than Halo. Thus they don't make anything more complex than Halo, thus that is the most complex game an Xbox-player is faced with.
Vicious circle.
Man, I still need to replace my old Dreamcast. I miss it | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
