Post Too Human Media, Villain Profile, and Blog Update

As Silicon Knights' Too Human finally approaches release, it looks like it will contain enough RPG elements to warrant more coverage here on GameBanshee (we've posted about the game previously here and here).

Anyway, today Microsoft released a batch of images and a trailer showing off Hel, one of the game's villains. To learn more about her, you can also check out GameSpy's recent profile:
Hel is the daughter of Loki and Administrator for Helheim, a newly formed government formed through secession from the Aesir and Midgard. Claiming an independent state, Helheim entered a treaty with the Aesir called "The Pact of the Fallen." In return for their independence, Helheim would receive the corpses of all natural deaths from Midgard. These corpses would be rendered at Helheim for the recollection of useful materials – organs, minerals, gene stock, etc.

Hel's relationship to Loki is not well understood, although Loki claims she is his daughter. Loki's Aesir wife, Sigyn, long destroyed in battle claimed otherwise. Her origins are dubious at best and although Loki has had dealings with the Children of the YMIR, it is not known how Hel was created. It is known only that when ODIN discovered her existence that he emphatically demanded that she be removed from Midgard. Loki complied, but has never forgotten, nor forgiven, the exile of his daughter.

In addition, Silicon's Denis Dyack has updated his IGN blog with some notes about the game's final days in development, as well as a couple of new screenshots.
The depth in “Too Human” is pretty staggering, though, and despite playing the game for months now I have not been able to exhaust all of the combinations. It is definitely not reasonable to expect anyone to understand all the depth by playing limited demos. With the latest uproar on perfect scores and rushed review processes, we have good news – there will be plenty of time for press to critique Too Human as they will receive evaluation copies well in advance of the release date.

...

Despite it being a very rough road, I feel we have gone beyond what we expected to achieve with “Too Human.” Through the pure talent and determination of the team, we have created an awesome experience that gamers should appreciate for a long time. It is our best game to date. And, with our deep love for “Eternal Darkness” that is saying something! Hopefully gamers will agree.
