Another pair of reviews for Warner Bros. and Monolith's The Matrix Online have been posted over the weekend. The first is at IGN's MxO Vault with an overall score of 7.6/10:
The Matrix Online is a solid game whose major shortcoming is the unoriginal session-to-session gameplay elements. The Live Events are excellent, but unless they plan on having one every month (which seems to be the case considering the recent schedule of events that has been revealed) players may become bored. Matrix fans looking to find out the fate of Neo and wanting to get directly involved with the storyline would do well to give this game a try. Long time MMORPG players may appreciate the visuals and combat in MxO, but could be disappointed by the lack of innovation in the basic gameplay items. I’ll restate what I said in the beginning - MMORPGs change, any shortcomings mentioned above have the chance to be improved upon and no just-released game is free of flaws.

And the second is at GameDAILY with an overall score of 3/5:
It might be worthwhile for anyone interested in jacking into the Matrix to hold off for a little while, at least until the server problems are resolved. Perhaps then, many of the gameplay issues will be resolved too. It's difficult to recommend a game based solely on its untapped potential... especially when that potential is buried deep within the flawed code. But, if you're a player who is willing to persevere, truly become an awakened red pill, and reach the higher levels where the game starts getting fun, then the mysteries of The Matrix Online await.
