The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Reviews

Yet another handful of glowing reviews for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion have made their way to the web. The first is at SciFi.com with an overall score of "A":

In fact it's simply impossible in 1,000 or perhaps even 10,000 words to convey everything that Oblivion does well (much less does in general). Sure, poke it enough and you'll scare out its flaws, occasionally break the AI, stir up an exploit bug or two and possibly suffer the extremely rare console crash, but you're a bold cynic if the pros don't decimate the cons. And yes, this is one more reason to buy an HDTV if you're still riding that fence.

The second is at TrulyObscure with no overall score:

Either way, Oblivion is far too large a game to be discussed in any reasonable amount of space, so we’ll simply say this: if you like RPGs at all, and you don’t mind the lack of online play, try Oblivion.

The third is at GameXC with an overall score of 9.5/10:

If you don't have this game, you should. If you don't have a 360, get one and get this game. I can't say it any clearer than that. There is no reason not to buy Oblivion, short of being dead. Even then, you need to dig yourself out of the ground and get lost in Tamriel. The empire needs saving. What are you waiting for?

The fourth is at Pro-G with an overall score of 9/10:

Let's get one thing straight though: Oblivion will consume you. It'll consume your life, your performance at work will suffer and you might not see friends in weeks. With hundreds of hours of gameplay, and an unprecedented amount of quests to be completed, I couldn't possibly recommend Oblivion enough. Great job Bethesda. Sorry social life.

And the fifth is at Digital Audio Video with an overall score of 9.5/10:

Overall this is by far the best role playing game on the XBOX 360, you may say that’s not fair to say because there aren’t any other in competition. Well while that is true, I don’t see any RPG coming out anytime soon that would pull the rug out from under Oblivion. Also the fact that Bethesda is planning on offering downloadable content, this game will continue to advance past it’s out of the box version for a long time to come. In conjunction with XBOX Live to purchase downloadable content, even now the game can be advanced beyond what is currently there. So with all this upside is there any downside, well like I stated before frequent loading times can be a nuisance, and also the lack of several NPC’s in the cities is a bit troublesome but the lack of them is probably why the framerate remains as high as it does. If you are an Elder Scrolls fan, then I don’t need to tell you to buy this game because chances are you already have. If you are an RPG fan, this is a game not be missed, and hell if you own an XBOX 360 this game should be in your library regardless.
